Just as he sat down at the table by the balcony, Azura came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a cozy, fluffy robe. She hurried to the table, a big, relaxed smile on her face.
I’ve never seen her this happy, and now I have to go and fuck it right up.
She looked so content and so very beautiful. The silvery light of Nova Aurora’s suns glanced over her fine features, highlighting her pale brown eyes and making her skin glow. She was stunning in any light, and Onyx was so struck by her beauty that, for a moment, he truly couldn’t speak.
“What’s the matter, my love?” she asked, tucking into the food. Onyx smiled.
“Just adoring you,” he said. She giggled. His face darkened again as he realized he was about to banish those giggles entirely.
“Azura, I have to tell you something.”
“Yes?” she answered, a forkful of bacon hovering in front of her face.
“Martin is gone.”
“Gone?” she echoed, eyes wide.
“Yes, gone. The staff just informed me.”
She stared at him for a few seconds, and in those short few moments, Onyx felt like his guts went through a shredder.
Here we go.
“Gone where?” she asked.
“We don’t know,” he said, bearing up to the uncomfortable moment. He waited for her to explode.
To his shock, Azura shrugged and took another bite of food. Onyx sat completely still as if Azura was a bomb about to go off.
Maybe if I don’t move, she won’t combust.
“It’s not like he can get far,” she said casually. “Everyone’s going to notice a human walking around. He can’t access a portal to go home. He has no idea about where to go or what to do on Nova Aurora. If he’s with Kyra, all the better. She should keep him very busy.”
Azura shook her head slightly, laughing as she tucked into her food again.
Onyx let out a long, deep sigh. He let the air trickle out slowly as he digested the information.
“You aren’t mad?”
“Why should I be?” she asked. “You’ve got people looking for him, don’t you?”
“Yes.”
“Then there’s no problem. I trust you completely. I knew you would have everything under control.”
Onyx was astounded but pleased. He relaxed a bit more and grabbed a bread roll from the table, stuffing bacon into it and biting it hungrily.
The moment seemed unreal. He was going to have to process her new attitude for a few minutes before he knew what to say.
