If what I imagined Philip had done to Charles didn’t get him to talk, I wasn’t going to get very far, but I had to try.

“Okay, boys, I’m getting bored here. Let’s skip my charred home for now, shall we? How about you two tell me who sent you after me? Who is your leader?”

Nothing. I heard the door open and close behind me, but I didn’t turn around. Liam’s low growl came not long after that. Philip just chuckled earning another growl from his boss.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Fraser. I hope I didn’t disturb anything important. Miss Steele caught another one today, I thought we should put him here with the other.”

“I’ll deal with you later,” Liam said, his voice deadly.

If I thought Philip scared Charles, it was nothing compared to his reaction when he saw Liam. He started blathering and hopping himself backward away from him.

I tilted my head as I watched him lose his mind. Then I looked up at Liam. I almost backed away from what I saw there, but he wasn’t aiming that scary ass look at me, so I turned back to Chuck.

“Calm down, Charles.” Liam’s voice came out as a deep growl.

“Uh, not for nothing, Liam, but I don’t think your tone is going to help anyone calm down,” I said.

He moved to stand beside me. “Were you hurt?”

A wave of his power rolled through the room and the men groaned as it hit them. I took his hand in mine, stroking it with my thumb to calm him a little.

“No. I’m fine. I just want some answers from these idiots.”

Liam looked at the men with a scowl. “Yes, well, perhaps this new one will be easier to break than Charles over here.”

The meaning behind the word ‘break’ was not lost on me, and a part of me was turned on by Liam’s display of Alpha-ness. The fucked up part of me was really turned on by it.

“I don’t know anything, man,” Ivan sputtered. “Really, I don’t.”

I rose and sauntered over to him. Bending at the waist, I leveled my face with his. “You take orders from someone. Who is it?”

“I don’t know.”

“Are you sure? Because it looks like Phil over there is chomping at the bit to have a go at you.”

Philip grinned in a way I hadn’t seen before, and I had to stifle a shudder. When the threat of torture didn’t work, I resigned myself to hearing, seeing, and doing shit I really didn’t want to, but my wolf nudged at me giving me an idea.

“Well, before I sic him on you...”

I backed up a few feet and stripped off my clothes. Before either of them could get a good look at me, I shifted. My wolf stretched then sat to stare at the men, taking delight in their fear.

“Holy shit,” Ivan breathed. “She really is the one.”

My wolf tilted her head and growled at him. His eyes bugged out as he turned white. She rose to her feet and stalked over to him. Starting at his feet, she sniffed her way up to his face. As a woman, I’m a little above the average female height at five feet seven inches, but my wolf stands about a foot taller than the other shifters. Even the Alphas.

Except Liam’s wolf. His was the only one I’d seen who was bigger than mine. Which was something I needed to remember to ask him about. Later.

For now, my wolf was having fun staring Ivan down, watching his resolve melt away as her lips pulled up to show her teeth.

“I think you should tell her what you know,” Liam said, speaking for me since I couldn’t.

“I don’t know anything. I swear.”

My wolf and Liam leaned in closer and growled. With both of us staring him down, he started to cry again.

“Okay, okay,” he sputtered.

“No, man, don’t,” Charles said then gasped and clamped his mouth shut when Liam turned to look at him.
