“What do you need an army for?”
She laughed, throwing in a touch of glamor. It made me want to take my robe off and let her have her way with me. She sensed my sudden arousal, and her smile changed to predatory.
She licked her lips and leaned in close. “Why does anyone need an army?” She ran a finger from my ear to my collar bone, and I swallowed the moan that rose and stepped back. “Domination, honey.”
“You want to dominate the shifters?”
“No, not at all. I want to dominate the humans.”
“Oh, is that all?” I laughed this time. Then another wave of desire hit me. “Stop with the glamor shit, Cybil.”
She leaned in again. “Honey, I don’t need glamor. If I want to fuck you, I’ll have you begging for me.”
I didn’t back away this time. “Something tells me you’re right about that but stop pulling it on me anyway. As for your offer to join forces with you… That’d be a big fat no. Thanks for asking though.”
She studied me for a while before smiling and nodding. “Have it your way then. You have no idea what you’ve started, hon, and you won’t be able to end it.”
She disappeared before I could respond. I stared at the spot where she’d been for a minute or two trying to figure out if I’d been dreaming or if that had actually happened. I shook my head when I realized I was still awake, and on a hunch, checked the locks on all the doors.
They were locked.
That’s when I realized I’d just put myself on the bad side of an ancient vampire who could apparently teleport her way into my house.
“Well, Steele, there’s not much you can do about it now,” I groaned to myself as I shuffled back into my room. I dropped the robe and climbed back into bed next to Liam.
He shifted in his sleep in a way that had his face turned toward me. I nibbled at his bottom lip until he grabbed me and rolled on to his back, pulling me on top of him. His eyes opened a little, just enough to see me as I lowered myself onto him and started moving my hips.
