The bed is dressed in crisp sheets, and a glass wall opens the bedroom to the ocean.

The view is breathtaking, with smooth sand, empty lounging chairs, and a sky changing colors in the distance.

As grateful as I am for everything. I wish I had time to let it all sink in.

But that is the price we have to pay.

He pours two glasses of wine without waiting for an answer. Like me, he knows we don’t have much time. Or not enough time to socialize.

This is not about that.

This is about becoming one as quickly as possible while keeping the appearances. Without ripping off our clothes and sinking our teeth into each other’s flesh with maddening hunger.

He walks to me and hands me a glass of golden wine.

Food would be a better choice for me, but I say yes to the drink. He soaks his lips in the sweet wine, and I do that too, my eyes not leaving his before he grips the rim of his glass and, holding it next to his thigh, brings his hand to my neck.

His lips come to mine, and the first kiss sends pleasure to my core.

I place the glass on the nightstand and touch his face.

I know how tested his patience is and how much effort it takes to keep everything under control.

How he had fooled me this evening by seeming distant, uninterested in me, and too damn laid back.

I know what he said to me that first night… That Halloween night. He was the first to touch me and say things to me. Make promises. He was always bold, brazen, and took what he thought was his.

That has changed somewhat as things have flowed in different directions, and he’s become more cautious and careful.

Holding his cards close to the vest.

And now he’s here. His eyes burning, my curiosity piqued. My body longing for him.

He sets his glass down before my hand goes to his face again, and I push up onto my toes while he tilts his mouth down, so we can kiss.

Delicious, wined-scented, warm kisses. With his hands moving to my back and learning the intricacies of my dress.

He’s familiar with my body and the way I react to him. He knows how to get me out of my clothes, moving his hands over my skin the way he’d move around his home.

“This will be our little secret… All right?” he murmurs, pulling my zipper down, opening my dress, sliding my straps over my shoulders, and helping me out.

He takes in my red lace panties and lowers himself in front of me, biting the smooth skin below my navel before trailing down to my slit while removing my underwear.

Swiftly, he pushes up, clutches my hips, and pulls me into his body. My arms snake around his neck.

“All right, baby?” he asks, a sultry grin glimmering in his eyes. “What happens here stays here.”

Sex makes him magnetic.

I can’t figure out why he wants so much secrecy. Not that I don’t want it. It’s written in the contract too. But I find it curious.

I mumble a few words.

“Yes… It works for me.”

I wonder how long this will stay a secret. And whether I’m the only one bound by this rule. Maybe he wants to know whether he can trust me. Perhaps it’s a test.

Everything is a test at some point.
