I think it’s him not getting her soon enough. That’s what annoys the hell out of him.

Francisco chuckles.

“I thought you said no feelings,” he throws at me.

“Yeah. I did say that… Why did it take you so damn long?” I ask.

Alejandro looks at him attentively.

“It was complicated,” Francisco says, barely crushing a cocky smile.

He looks flushed. Maybe it’s the alcohol.

“Where were the two of you?”

“Uh…”

He straightens in his seat and runs his fingers through his hair.

“We were in her room… And then…”

He looks down at his drink, a crooked smirk tugging at his lips.

“We drove downtown to show her around and got pulled over. Well, we were sort of parked on a secondary street when the cops arrived.”

Alejandro’s jaw clenches, although he manages to smile.

“We had to go back. She needed to get her things.”

“What things?”

“Her phone and wallet and other stuff.”

My smile drops.

“She didn’t have her phone with her?”

“You just heard me.”

Alejandro no longer listens to Francisco, ordering another drink.

I check the time.

“All right. We’re leaving in ten minutes. Find her. The yacht is waiting.”

I make a trip to the restroom and return in a few minutes when a bad feeling starts growing in me.

Eliza, the woman Raven had found me with before she left, flashes a smile at me, her husband standing next to her.

I acknowledge her before moving my eyes around. It’s been over half an hour since I talked to Raven last.

I chat with the house owner and ask her if she’s seen her.

Alejandro and Francisco are no longer at the bar. Maybe they’re waiting in the car outside.

Still standing, I look around the terrace when I notice them coming from the area where I’d spent time with her before she vanished.

“She’s gone,” Francisco says.
