Although we won’t fool anyone. There’s no doubt in my mind no one will buy it. The least of which, the two men waiting for us.

They know exactly what is going on. Besides, we are not doing anything different than what’s spelled out in our agreement.

Hot sex. Check.

Mostly unplanned. Check.

Performed in public. Maybe. Check.

Orgasms galore. Check.

Gifts. And secrets. Check. And check.

The car pulls up in front of a villa by the water. I finally recollect myself, the reality catching up with me.

We are here. Although this is not what I expected. I thought we were eating at a restaurant downtown.

Wait… That was before.

“They changed the place,” he says in response to my puzzled look.

Is this the dinner party he was talking about? What difference does it make?

I clear my throat.

“We’re late. Do you think they’re still here?” I murmur, staring at the entrance.

“I’m sure they are. Everybody’s here.”

My pulse echoes in my ears.

Everybody. As in everybody who was in the meeting this morning?

That moment in time seems so far away from me. It’s like it happened months ago in a different life.

What am I talking about? Even the time we’ve spent at the pool seems like a distant memory.

This is this, and that was that. He won’t be the same man once we walk into that house. And chances are I won’t be the same woman.

I can’t tell whether the new me will be genuine or not. Whether I’ll hide my feelings or simply become someone else.

The same is true for him.

I don’t know if I will like the man he will become once we move away from these special moments.

“Ready?” he asks, our driver waiting for his signal.

I clear my throat and bring a new expression to my face.

“Yes. Yes, I am,” I say evenly, spurring surprise on his face.

“All right.”
