“Okay.” Letting out a breath, she pushed him gently so that she could stand on wobbly legs. “Okay. Well, I’m glad we sorted that out.”

His laughter rang out through the room. “You know,” he said mischievously, grasping her hand. “I’m going to enjoy sorting things out with you more often from now on.”

Mia felt her cheeks heat. Now everything was out in the open, she couldn’t wait to see him again, like this. “I could always ask Emilia to make up more meetings. She’s team Jack.”

“Is she now?”

“Are you kidding me? The sticky notes, your smile, the way you’ve been looking at me? She’s been all over it.”

“So… you’ve talked about me.”

Reaching up on her tiptoes, she gave him a soft kiss, full of longing and promise. “Maybe I have. You go first.”

His scent filled her nose, and his kind brown eyes were looking at her, a little unsure. Remembering how she kicked him out of the copy room, Mia felt she needed to reassure him. “I promise I’m okay. I’m sorry I thought badly of you.”

“Thought badly of you.” He corrected her, giving her a gentle kiss.

“Thought badly of us.”

“If I come near you again today, I can’t promise it’ll be decent.”

“Okay.”

Jack placed both hands on her face, cradling it as he gave her a sweet kiss on her forehead.

Mia had been right. Jack was trouble with a capital-T. But the best kind.
