Chapter Thirty-Seven
MADISON
Itook pictures of the team as they came out of the locker room for their pre-game skate.
Yeah, I was still taking pictures here.
That didn’t mean I wasn’t going to be doing my own thing though.
I just didn’t want to make a completely insane emotional decision.
Speaking of which…
Maverick was last to exit the locker room, wearing his massive pads on his legs.
Looking huge and sexy.
Looking right at me for a split second so I could take his picture.
He then gently moved this stick through the air and turned his body.
Stretching.
But throwing something to the ground right in front of me.
I stepped forward and on what looked like a piece of paper.
A note?
Did Maverick just throw me a note?
Is this what sneaking around is like for us now?
It felt a littlehigh-school-ishbut yet it made my heart race a little.
I took a few more pictures as Maverick walked down the hallway to the ice.
The music I heard playing out on the ice was thumping where I was.
When the hallway was empty, and I was one million percent sure I was alone, I crouched down and swiped the piece of paper off the floor.
I snuck into the locker room and skipped going anywhere near Maverick’s stuff.
I sat down in Lay’s spot.
Which I instantly regretted.
I had no idea who that man had been with and when.
For all I knew I could have been catching some rare disease sitting there.
I unfolded the note from Maverick.
Meet in hallway. After pre-skate. Be sneaky. I guess.
I frowned.
All that suspense for that?
