Chapter Thirty-One

MADISON

Isat on the corner of the counter in my mostly dark apartment and debated on how to handle everything I felt. There was ice cream in the freezer. There was booze in the cabinet above the fridge. There was also the small possibility of just going out and finding someone, telling that someone that my name was Grace and letting the night take control.

I texted Zoe and Eva, telling them that I lost my mind at the photoshoot and walked out.

They both offered to come over. Then demanded to come over.

I told them to just stay away for now.

I needed to be alone.

Plus, if they came over, it would just lead to this whole thing of sadness.

It would be nothing but memories.

And sometimes memories weren’t that good.

It wasn’t exactly required to keep all your memories, right?

I could find a way to throw some of them out.

I jumped off the counter and grabbed a chair so I could climb up and reach the cabinet for the booze.

That was how I could get rid of the memories and salvage what was left of the night.

Then again, I’d have to face tomorrow, wouldn’t I?

Which would lead me to an interesting choice to make.

How to handle my little freakout during the photoshoot.

I could either face it, grab an excuse out of the air.

Or just let my father handle it for me.

Like he had done so many times before.

Which was old.

It felt weak.

I felt weak.

I pulled a bottle of vodka out of the cabinet.

That’s when I heard a knock at my door.

“Oh, fuck,” I whispered.

Zoe and Eva didn’t listen to me.

Although it was almost impossible for them to show up that quick.

I didn’t really think that through until I was opening the door.

Then all thoughts vanished when I saw Maverick standing outside my door.
