Chapter Twenty

2 days to Maggie’s wedding...

Rose pulled out her phone to read the text from Gray, but couldn’t help reading the ones from last night one more time.

GRAY:My bed is cold and empty

GRAY:Do you think the hotel maid will gossip about your torn underwear and a condom in my trash?

GRAY:She’s probably seen everything.

GRAY:All I can think about is that I didn’t get to see you naked and laid out on the sheets

GRAY:Still sex on the beach

GRAY:Best night ever

GRAY:Wish you were here

GRAY:Also how is your sister? Good I hope

Rose smiled because although he’d been thinking about her he’d still remembered she’d left him because her sister needed her.

She’d responded last night, giving him an abbreviated accounting of her conversation with Poppy and saying that her sister would love to talk to him about business finance. Of course Gray readily agreed to answer Poppy’s questions and talk about the jobs he’d held climbing the corporate ladder to CFO.

Now, though, he was as impatient to see Rose as she was to see him.

GRAY:Finished being a corporate mogul ready to get my hands on you again

ROSE:Then I can’t wait to see you

A blush heated her cheeks because Maggie and the florist were only a few steps away making sure every other pew in the church would have the perfect bouquet at the end of it.

“Rose, what do you think? Is it enough to have the bouquets on the pews without the big bouquets at the altar?”

Rose stood at the back of the church looking down the aisle to the altar. “Actually, if I was the photographer taking pictures from back here as you exchange vows, all of us would block the bouquets anyway. What about lining the step up to thealtar with small bouquets, leaving a wide enough section in the middle for you to walk through? That way when you head back down the aisle, the photographer can frame you in the center with the flowers spreading out on either side of you up there and as you walk by the pews.”

Maggie turned to look back at the altar, then spun back with a brilliant smile on her face. “You are exactly right. That will be beautiful and perfect. The photos will look amazing.”

“A memory for a lifetime,” Rose confirmed as the florist typed notes into her tablet.

Rose’s phone dinged with another text. Rose tried very hard not to show how much she wanted to read it.

Maggie rolled her eyes, but grinned. “That’s Gray again, isn’t it? The man is obsessed with you.”

Rose shared Maggie’s joy for her. “He finished work for the day. He’s bored,” she lied. He was definitely enjoying texting with her.

“Answer the man. At least he’s texting you, while Marc is constantly texting everyone at work and not me.”

Rose turned her back to Maggie to read the text while Maggie and the florist worked out the final details for the floral arrangements.

GRAY:Headed your way now

GRAY:Oh the plans I have for you tonight

ROSE:I look forward to every second I’m with you

Rose checked the time. The wedding rehearsal started in about half an hour. Gray would be early, which meant they’d have some time together before they ran through the ceremony.
