THIRTY
“Sully, ifyoukeep touching me, I’ll never finish getting dressed.” I eased away from Sully, pushing at his chest for him to release me. I should have been dressed already, but with him copping a feel whenever he got the opportunity, it was taking me twice as long.
He reeled me back in and nuzzled my neck. “But you smell so good.” He nipped at my skin, and I groaned, clamping my eyes shut.
Don’t give in to him. Don’t give in to him.
“Seriously, you’re being a horrible boss right now.”
“But a wonderful boyfriend.”
My eyes flew open. That was the first time he’d referred to himself as my boyfriend. I turned in his arms and pulled his head down to kiss him. To thank him for acknowledging what I was to him.
“You know there’s nothing I’d rather you do right now than put me on my knees and fuck me, but we have to take care of your little problem tonight. After, you can have all the sex you want, whenever you want it, wherever you want it.”
He released me. “Where have I heard that before? Isn’t that what you said when I picked you up that first night?”
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t make me get Liam to take you away.”
“As if he could.” He walked over to the bed and sat. “I just want to make sure you’re certain about this.”
“I am. Stop worrying. I’m going to get you your man tonight.” I peered at him through the mirror as I applied some smoky eyeshadow. “You confirmed he’ll be there tonight, right?”
“Yes. There’s always someone who’s willing to exchange information for money.”
“That’s sad. No amount of money in the world could get me to betray you and Liam.”
“That’s good to hear ’cause I’d find you.”
“And do what to me?”
“I’d sentence you to a lifetime with me.”
“Not much different from now, then.”
I stepped away from the mirror and took up the shirt on the bed. The black material was transparent, which contrasted nicely with my white skin. I smoothed my hand down the fabric, then turned to Sully, who watched me without a word.
“What do you think?”
“You really want me to tell you how much I want to take every layer of clothing off?”
I grinned. “And to think a month ago, you were only into women.”
“You’ve cursed me. Are you finished primping now? You don’t get to sleep with anyone else but me tonight. Just an FYI.”
“But I still have to flirt, don’t I?” I kissed his cheek. “Don’t worry. That’s all in your control. You get to the location before Grimaldo touches me, and you get to have me instead.”
His nostrils flared. I loved this cat-and-mouse game we’d discovered we were both into. Other men were appealing, knowing Sully’s reaction to seeing me with them and listening to me flirt with them. It turned him on, turned him primal and possessive, and I loved every second of it.
We descended the stairs together, and I checked Cinnamon had food and water, even though she was nowhere to be found. I’d learned to expect her disappearances. Eventually, she always came out of her hiding place. Every time I thought I had all her spots figured out, she found another one.
“You’re late,” Liam said when we climbed into the car. “Jeopardizing a mission, Sully, for a piece of ass? No offense, Kit. I didn’t think you had it in you.”
“Saying ‘no offense’ doesn’t negate the offense, you know?” I muttered under my breath.
“You say another crass remark like that, and we’re dumping you at the side of the road.” Sullivan backed me up.
Liam snorted. “Good luck with that. Who’s going to drive the getaway car? Kit?” He almost hit another car from laughing so hard.
