“Yeah, I doubt that.”
“Actually, Jen and I talked more about her and Brett. How they met is like a story from a romance novel. They’d been writing to each other for months before your sister even realized Brett was President Sherbrooke’s nephew.”
“Like a story from a romance novel? I think there’s something you’re not telling me.” The corners of his lips inched ever so slightly upward. And Maddie expected a teasing grin at any moment.
“You watch the Hallmark Channel and read books by Nora Roberts when you’re alone, don’t you?” Keith gently pinched her arm and grinned.
She’d opened her big mouth. “When it comes to the Hallmark Channel, I plead the fifth. As far as Nora Roberts goes, I’ve read none of her books.” Nana, whom she often shared romance novels with, loved Nora Roberts’ work, but none of the author’s storylines appealed to Maddie. “How do you even know who Nora Roberts is?”
“My mom’s a romance junkie. She could start a bookstore with all the paperbacks she has.”
Maddie tucked the tidbit of information away. Then, if she found herself alone with Keith’s mom when they visited and couldn’t think of anything else, she’d put it to use.
