I bit my lip. “I’m staying here with you?”

He grinned. “Yeah. In my old bedroom, actually. I took over the master bedroom when I bought the place.”

I smiled. “You’ve done well for yourself. I’m proud of you.”

He shrugged. “It was always my mission to end up better than my dad. I guess I succeeded.”

I still lived in only a cramped studio apartment in the city and I forgot how much space was available in a full house like this one. In Bryce’s house, I felt like I could really stretch and spread out.

I was surprised to see the guest room looked feminine. Even though the rest of the house was well kept, there was a distinctly masculine feeling in the black and navy-blue color scheme. Here, the windows were covered with white lace curtains and the bed had pink bedding set on it. A fluffy shag rug covered the hardwood floors, making the entire room feel welcoming and inviting. There was a small teddy bear on the bed as well. I had an impulse to pick it up and hug it. It was exactly the type of bedroom I wanted when I was little, but I definitely didn’t expect it to exist in Bryce’s house.

I set my bag down next to the bed and looked at him. He was studying me, which he seemed to be doing since he first picked me up from the airport. “Did you let your girlfriend decorate this room?” I asked. “It’s so different from the others.”

“I don’t have a girlfriend,” he said. “I decorated this room in case I ever got a Little.”

I grinned. “Like that book we found in the public library.” I smiled as I remembered. We had found a book about DDLG in a donation bin in the library. Out of morbid curiosity, we took it and read it to each other, snickering, when we were supposed to be studying.

He grinned. “Yeah. Turns out that was the sort of thing I was into.”

“Well, any Little would be lucky to have this room,” I said, sitting down on the edge of the bed. “It looks beautiful. The entire house looks beautiful.”

He smiled softly. “I’m glad you think so.”
