God. What was this? What was happening?

My spine tingled, and the back of my neck erupted with the sensation of someone watching me. It was him. Oakley. I could feel it.

Leaning heavier against the man whose lips currently ravaged mine, I bent my leg, re-enacting one of the most clichéd kissing poses seen in almost every cheesy romance movie. I had to give it to this guy, he was acting his part perfectly. Too damn perfect.

From behind us, I heard someone call Oakley’s name, and my sexy stranger inched back, placing his thumb against my chin before tearing his lips from mine.

“Is he gone?” I whispered, out of breath.

He glanced over my shoulder. “If you’re referring to the guy who just murdered me with a glare, then yes.”

I stepped back and took a deep breath, pulling my fingers through my curls, embarrassment flooding to my cheeks.

“If making your boyfriend jealous was your objective, I’d say it was a huge success.” He smirked, his lips glistening from our kiss. God, I was such an idiot.

“He’s not my boyfriend.” I wiped at my bottom lip before straightening, desperate to show nothing but unbreakable confidence. “Listen, keg guy. If you see me on the street or pass me in a crowd, pretend like this never happened. Okay?”

“Sure thing.”

“Great.” I placed a palm on his chest. “Now go get drunk like the rest of these immature assholes.” I turned my back toward him and touched my bottom lip where our kiss still lingered, tasting him. I’ve done a lot of stupid shit in my life, but kissing a total stranger and actually liking it was at the top of my list. His kiss drew pins and needles from my spine, my stomach aflutter with an excitement I had never felt before.

I traced my finger from one corner of my mouth to the other. His scent of red pepper, nutmeg, and patchouli still intoxicated my senses.Bleu de Chanel. I would recognize that scent anywhere. It was my favorite. I had bought it for Oakley as a Christmas gift once, yet he never wore it.

Ungrateful son of a bitch.

It took a few seconds for the fog to lift from my mind, and for me to realize what I had just done. I was so desperate to get away from Oakley and hide my wounds from him that I resorted to kissing another guy.Fuck.The last thing I wanted to do was pour fuel on Oakley’s already raging jealousy. It was his one weakness, the jealousy he often lost control over.

I walked back into the crowd, no longer feeling the need to run out the door. Just like a lot of our guests currently gawking at me, Oakley had seen me kiss another guy. There was no way his ego would let him approach me now, risking looking like the jealous ex. We both knew how brutal the social scene was; how cruel these rich jocks and debutants could be. All it took was one wrong impression, and you got roasted.

Well, not me. Not tonight. And sure as hell not by my ex-boyfriend who, if rumors were anything to go by, couldn’t keep his dick in his pants.

Sure, we broke up because of rumors, but I had been on this rollercoaster enough times to know that where there’s smoke, there’s sure as fuck a fire raging.

Two girls came walking by carrying a tray of jello-shots. I grabbed two and swallowed them without taking a damn breath. The brunette who clearly wore the wrong shade of lipstick cocked a brow my way. I narrowed my eyes at her. “Hey, this is my house which means these jello-shots,” I grabbed another one, “are mine too.”

I turned on my heel, the skirt of my dress bobbing as I swayed my ass. God, this night was going to be an epic disaster.

“Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?”

I stilled.

“Everyone get the fuck out of my house!”

I slowly turned to face my dad, his eyes almost black, and cheeks burning with rage.

Yeah. It was an epic disaster, all right.
