They found him passed out on the floor. When they tried to wake him, he would just turn away from them. Finally, the two of them put him in bed.

“What do we do now? It’s kind of hard to kick a passed-out drunk’s ass.”

“We go home,” Ellis said. And then suddenly he turned toward a closed door.

Opening it, he stepped into the room. Suddenly Lee understood.

“Oh no, let’s go. You don’t need to be going down this rabbit hole,” he said and walked into the bedroom to pull Ellis out.

The room had not been changed since Arianna’s death. It still looked like a young lady’s bedroom.

“Come on, let’s go,” Lee told his friend.

Ellis sighed and hung his head. “Son of a bitch, I’d like to kick Henry’s drunk ass all the way out of town.”

“Me too,” Lee said. “Come on, let’s go.”

With a heavy heart, they walked outside into the night and began the journey home.

“Can’t believe he’s not changed the room. It’s been over two years.”

“Face it, he’s never going to get over losing her.”

“Sometimes I wonder if I ever will either,” Ellis said.
