“Well, we have two weeks. I say we spend this time getting to know her. Making certain that she’s the one for us, but I know from briefly meeting all the other women that no one interested me like Mary did.”

It was true, he had gone around and spoken to each of the women, just to make certain his gut instincts were right. And Mary was the one he wanted. Mary was the one he felt drawn to return to time and again.

“Since your family is the founding fathers of Treasure Falls, then I think she should marry you. But I’m going to be right there beside you, and we will say our vows not in a church, but at home.”

Andrew knew he wanted to feel like she was just as much his wife as Jesse’s and he wanted his own ceremony.

“Good, because Uncle Owen is going to have the bride stand between the two men, and when the vows are said, both will say them to her.”

A sense of relief swept over Andrew. He liked the way Jesse’s family always included the second husband. After all, Mary would be having his children as well.

“Just think, in two weeks we will be married men and we might even have a family on the way a couple weeks later,” Andrew said and his heart felt lighter. All his life, he had struggled to feel included. To be a part of something and not the stranger living with a tightly knit group.

No longer would he feel like an orphan. Alone in the world.

Now he would have the chance to belong.

They arrived at the house, and when they walked in, Andrew lit a lantern. He glanced about the place.

“You know with a wife coming, we might want to clean up this place and get it ready for her.”

Jesse smiled at him. “I was thinking we should build a big bed that would hold all three of us.”

A thrill of happiness zinged along Andrew’s spine. “Yes. I’ll start working on it tomorrow. That way in two weeks when we say I do, we’ll be ready.”

Andrew felt almost giddy. Never before had a woman intrigued him like Mary. And he was confident that when they asked her to marry them, she was going to say yes.

It was only a matter of time before they had a wife and a family. Everything he’d ever wanted.
