Chapter Thirty-Two

Lincoln

I hadn’t taken Harper back to her hotel room after the hospital. I didn’t want to leave her alone.

She was right, I was her bodyguard, and she was my responsibility. I had taken her back to my place, let her crash on my bed, and I had contemplated the sofa which would have been too small when she let me join her.

I checked my phone early the following day. Jaxson had texted that the studio canceled the film shoot. I didn’t know what that meant for Harper’s career or if she’d be pissed or pleased by the news.

“Morning,” she whispered. Her eyelids fluttered open as she lay on her side, staring at me.

“No work today, for either of us. It looks like the studio has put a hold on the production.” Although there were a few things I wanted to do, I didn’t have to run security detail on the set, which was a bonus considering what time we’d gotten into my place last night.

Harper rolled onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. “Good. I shouldn’t have taken on the role, knowing I had to work for that asshat of a director.”

“Well, if you hadn’t, we never would have met.” I doubted that she’d have found her way to Breckenridge on her own.

“True.”

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and climbed out of bed. “The workers will be here soon to work on the restaurant downstairs.” There would be no chance of sleep with all the banging going on.

“What happened to your restaurant? Piss off someone? Are those real bullet holes?” Harper asked.

“Unfortunately, they are as real as they come. I did want to stop by Eagle Tactical this afternoon and find out if there’s any word on Enzo and if he’s being charged with murder or your abduction.”

Harper remained quiet. Should I not have brought it up?

She sat up in bed, the blankets at her waist, her clothes from yesterday still on. “I should go back to the hotel, shower, and change.”

“I’ll drive you. Do you mind if I hop in the shower real fast?”

“Only if I can join you,” she whispered.

I leaned in, capturing her lips with mine, wanting her to know that yes, I wanted her. I hadn’t stopped wanting her since we’d laid eyes on each other. I grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet, leading her to the bathroom.

I flipped on the light and started the shower. I quickly undressed and discarded my clothes, leaving them on the floor.

Harper hesitated, but her eyes raked over my body, taking all of it in. She chewed on her bottom lip.

Did she like what she saw? Was she unable to stop staring at me? It felt good to be wanted. I needed to make her feel the way that she made me feel inside.

“Do you want a hand?” I offered and closed the distance between us, my hands on her hips. My fingers skimmed her sides and stomach as I inched the material up.

Harper lifted her arms into the air. I gently guided her shirt up and over, my fingers pinched the bra band, undoing the clasp in the back, letting the straps slide down her shoulders and flow to the floor.

Her lips looked warm and inviting. I leaned in kissing her, tasting her, while my fingers went to work at her pants, pushing her slacks down along with her panties.

Wrapping my arms around her, I dragged her into the shower, under the spray, our bodies together, the heat caressing our skin.

Her hands explored my back and down to my ass. She gave it a firm slap.

I quirked an eyebrow, staring down at her. “Did you just spank me?”

She laughed and nodded, giving a wide grin as she did it again.

I grabbed her wrist and pinned her against the shower tile. Her nipples hardened, and my mouth fell hard onto hers as I slipped a hand between us, touching her.

She moaned and gasped in pleasure as I separated her folds, feeling over her wetness. I teased her pearl, her body shuddered, and her breathing only further intensified.
