“Look at me,” Lincoln commanded, his breathing heavy and raspy.

I struggled to open my eyes, but I gave him what he wanted. An eager moan fell from my lips. My head tipped back against the pillow, back arched as he filled me with each thrust. I was close, but I wanted him there with me, experiencing it together.

Lincoln grunted, and I clenched onto him, feeling him tinkering near the brink of oblivion.

I wrapped my legs around him, dragging him closer, my arms pulling him tight, needing every thrust as much as the last as I drew near.

He gave me what I needed, my body shuddering and pulsating as my heart pounded wildly against my chest, the sound deafening in my ears.

I awoke early the next morning. The light streamed in through the curtains of the trailer.

“I have to go,” Lincoln whispered, dropping a soft kiss to my lips.

Moaning in protest, my eyes still shut, I reached out and grabbed his arm. “Don’t go.”

I didn’t want him to run off like the others, never to hear from again.

He brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. “I’ll pick you up tonight, after work, for dinner. Maybe we can do something fun?”

“I want to go rafting,” I whispered, half-asleep. I’d never been, but I had heard while on set that the crew had plans to go on the river. Some were going tubing, others rafting downstream.

The bed dipped. Lincoln perched himself on the edge of the mattress.

I lazily opened my eyes, staring at him. Had I won? Was he going to stay a little while longer? I patted the bed beside me.

“It’ll be too late in the evening to go rafting, but we can make a date of it on Saturday. If you don’t already have plans,” Lincoln said.

I rolled onto my side, pulling the blankets down slightly so he could get a glimpse of what he was missing by leaving. “Come back to bed,” I said. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

Lincoln leaned down, his lips soft and sweet as he dropped a gentle kiss over my lips. “As much as I’d love to do that, I should get out of here before the crew starts showing up for work.”

He was right, and as he pulled back to end the kiss, I groaned in protest. “Fine.” I pulled the covers up around myself as I sat up, offering him a faint smile.

While I may have wanted him to stay in bed with me all day, we couldn’t do that in the trailer.

Chuckling, he stood, fixing the buttons on his shirt. “I look forward to tonight.”

After Lincoln left, I climbed in the shower, erasing any evidence that I’d had the most amazing and steamy sex of my life.

I didn’t want to admit that my heart soared when I was around him.

Breckenridge was supposed to be temporary.

I had no intention of living in a small town in the middle of nowhere, but the thought of leaving hurt.

What did I have at home?

No one.

My house was nice but it wasn’t enough.

It had only been one night, one fabulous earth-shattering night, but I couldn’t let what happened between us change my plans or my life.

Lincoln wasn’t about to upend his life and career because of a girl who he just met.
