I still swing by the compound for fresh clothes, a shower, and sometimes a nap because the woman keeps me up all night. But it's worth it.

She's worth it.

Perhaps that's why Nikita seems to realize I must be hooking up with someone. I rarely come home to sleep at a reasonable hour.

He isn't wrong, but I'm not about to confess that or anything else to him.

"I'll be sure to give the girls a warm welcome," I say and head out of his office, exhaling a sharp breath.

Why am I nervous? It shouldn't matter if he finds out I'm dating one of the girls. He's not going to shoot me over it. Would he fire Savannah or, worse, make me fire her?

Bailey and Ava are dancing on stage. Chloe, Violet, and Missy wander through the club. Chloe and Violet are talking to a small group of men, flirting, teasing, and inviting them for a private dance. Missy is table dancing for one of our regulars. She's trying to entice him to the VIP lounge, not just a private dance.

Savannah is nowhere in sight. I suspect she's giving a lap dance to one of our clients in a private booth. A part of me wants to look, watch the tapes, or wander by the red curtains and listen to the sounds being made.

But I should let her do her job, or Nikita is right; mixing business and pleasure is bad. He'd told me that early on when I was brought in to help with Club Sage. I've always considered him a mentor and friend, not just my tough-ass boss.

There's no sign of Madisyn, Hannah, or Lucy yet. I glance at my watch. Nikita didn't mention what time they'd be arriving, but I'm sure it'll be any minute.

I head for my office and grab my key to unlock the door when I find the handle turns easily.

It's unlocked.

I yank open the door, and Savannah is situated behind my desk, standing over it, the drawer slightly open and the ledger spread out as she examines it.

"What the fuck are you doing?"
