Chapter 14
Kyra woke in the warm and comfortable embrace of her Daddy, and she smiled. Her Daddy. She never thought she would have a Daddy again and she definitely would have never thought she’d be saying it about Rock. Except he was the only person in her life who really actually deserved that title.
Wiggling, she pressed her still-warm bottom against him and he groaned, tightening his hold on her.
“Unless you want me to take you again right now, I’m going to need you to stop doing that,” he growled in her ear, making her shudder.
Without a second thought she pressed back harder against him. In one swift movement he flattened her onto her back and was on top of her. “What’s wrong, little girl. Haven’t you gotten your fill?”
“Mmm-mmm. Never.”
He grinned. “That’s good, baby, really really good because I don’t know if I could get enough of you either. Unfortunately for us both though, it’s going to have to wait. You have a show to get ready for.”
Kyra sighed. “Is that today?”
“Yes, it is, and my guess is the Fourth of July festivities are already underway and we’re missing out.” He rolled again and this time he pulled her on top of him as he slid them both off the side of the bed and stood up. After a tight squeeze he turned her away from him and sent her off with a slap to her bottom. “Go get ready to go, little one.”
“Ow,” she complained, reaching back to rub the sting away. “That hurt.”
“You’ll get a lot more where that came from if you don’t do as I say.”
He put his hands on his hips and raised a brow at her. Unable to resist, Kyra stuck her tongue out at him and hurried into the bathroom.
With her new haircut getting ready was a breeze, and she was showered and dressed for her show in less than an hour.
“Well, that has to be some kind of record.” Rock looked at his watch and she rolled her eyes.
“I don’t have a whole mop on my head to tame,” she explained. “How do I look?”
He took in her stage outfit: A pair of denim cutoffs paired with a red sequin tank top and a white button up shirt embroidered with sparkly red roses that tied at her waist. She’d clipped some red, white and blue barrettes into her short blue hair and her white cowgirl boots completed the outfit. He thought she was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen.
“You look amazing as always, Ky. Good enough to eat,” he assured her, then teased her by spinning in a circle of his own. “How about me?”
Kyra covered her mouth, stifling a giggle as she saw the sparkly tattoo still on the back of his shoulder. “Perfection,” she forced out, trying to hide her glee. His form-fitting black tank only accentuated the bright, sparkly unicorn tattoo. She didn’t know how long it would be until someone told him about it, but it wasn’t going to be her.
Thankfully, a knock at the door got both of their attention. Rock went to the door, looked out the peep hole and sighed before swinging the door wide and moving out of the way.
Kyra screamed when she saw her sister standing there all decked out in red, white, and blue and looking ready to party. Kierra screamed too and they ran to each other. Their bodies collided so hard it was almost painful, but Kyra couldn’t care less. It had been forever since she’d gotten to hug her sister and she never wanted to let go.
“I missed you so much,” she said, her voice shaking as she barely held back the tears.
“Don’t cry or I’ll cry,” Kierra told her, pinching her arm.
Kyra giggled as they finally let go of one another. “Sorry, it’s been kind of an emotional couple of days.”
“Oh yeah? Is that why you have blue hair? I mean, I love it, but fill me in,” Kierra told her, taking her hand and heading to the couch.
“She'll have to fill you in on the walk out to the picnic,” Brock interjected.
“Rocky! Hi! I didn’t see you there.” Kierra smiled cheekily.
“Sure, you didn’t.” Brock shook his head. The two of them bantered constantly and Kyra was always thoroughly entertained. “Let’s go, girls.”
He turned and opened the door and Kyra could see the look on Kierra’s face as she saw the tattoo. Kierra opened her mouth to say something, and Kyra put her hand over her mouth and shook her head emphatically, barely managing to hold back a giggle. After they shared a knowing look, Kyra lowered her hand.
“Nice to see you so excited for a show, Rocky.” Kierra smirked as both girls walked out into the hall hand in hand.
Kyra did giggle then. She couldn’t help it.
