“Uhhh, of course. How do you like your coffee, gentlemen?”

“Black,” we answer in unison. She gives us a nod and slips out. The second the door shuts, Bree drops the act.

“What the fuck?” She hisses. “What happened last night? I sat on a fucking corner for like an hour, half-dressed and still in your fucking rope. I had to cut myself out of it and sleep here. Where were you? Did you even try to find me?”

Bree rattles off her questions with an intensity that makes my blood race in my veins. Fuck me, she’s sexy. “You’re feeling fiery today.” She stares at me with a deadpan expression, daring me to utter another word, but I’m not done. “Of course, we tried to find you. We got shoved out a side door, and we split up to search for you.”

“Did you know who I was last night?” Bree’s voice is strangled, and she sounds like she’s an inch and one wrong word away from a meltdown.

“We didn’t know.” Mal finally speaks up. “But even if we had, we’d all still be in this situation. We weren’t told the name of the company we were walking into. Maybe if you hadn’t kept us in the dark—”

“Well, it’s not like I knew I was meeting with you today! I mean, what are the fucking odds? Am I supposed to walk around Club Sin asking everyone if they work in marketing? Oh, hello. I’d like to engage in some light kink tonight, but first let me make sure we don’t have a business meeting tomorrow.”

That raises a couple of eyebrows on our side of the table. “You call that light kink?” I ask. Leo socks me in the arm. “Ow.” I scowl at my partner in crime, but he doesn’t even look at me. He rounds the table wordlessly, stalking toward her with a heavy purpose in his stride.

Brielle pulls her shoulders back, watching him with guarded suspicion as he approaches her. “What are you doing?” She glances at me. “What is he doing?” Before I can answer, Leo wraps her up in his arms.

“Um…” Bree goes rigid in his arms, but a split second later, her steel spine relaxes. Leo whispers something in her ear, and she shakes her head, hugging him back. “No, it’s okay.” She leans on his chest, facing away from us. He cradles the back of her head in his palm, his fingers weaving in her hair as he glares at me and Mal over the top of her head.

The fuck is wrong with you?he mouths.
