I tipped my chin up and straightened my posture, ready for battle. “What do you want me to do?” I squeezed my eyes shut and shook that question away. “What do you wantmy fatherto do?” That had to be it. They needed something, something only the king could give.
He pulled his hands from his pockets and folded his arms across his chest. “Thereisa brain in that pretty little head after all.”
He called me pretty.
Not the point, Ani.
“Is my brother okay?” Grey said they weren’t going to hurt me, but they didn’t say anything about Liam.
He raked a hand through his hair. “Jesus, do you ever shut up?”
“Not when I’m looking for answers.”
“You’ll get answers when it’s time for them.” He walked past me, his shoulder brushing mine, and toward the staircase. “Right now, it’s time for bed. Goodnight, Princess.”
And with that, he left me standing alone in his living room.
My pulse pounded in my ears with every beat of my hammering heart. I was thousands of miles from home, with a man who didn’t want me here, no way to call my brother, no idea where my father was, and no way out of this apartment. I’d been lied to and kidnapped, and he had the balls to tell me now wasn’t the time for answers.
Screw him.
Now was exactly the time.
