“Boring?” Stella offers with a snort.

“You’re mean.”

“I know, I’m sorry. But it’s just more evidence that you should let Alex pop that cherry. A nice guy like that would never hit the right spot.”

“Amen to that.”

I sigh, looking back over at Jerome as he pushes his glasses back up his nose, his eyes locked on the menu as if he’s scared of looking anywhere but.

“Do you think he’s here alone?”

“Why, you wanna invite him over?” Stella asks.

“Hell no, you two would scar him for life. It’s just kinda sad if he is.”

The waitress delivering three fully loaded salted caramel waffles and hot chocolate drags our attention away from Jerome. I eye my food hungrily, my mouth watering and my belly growling.

“God, I need this,” Emmie moans, making Stella snort.“What?” she asks.

“You sound just like that when you’re begging for Theo’s cock.”

“I do not.”

“You so do.”

Shaking my head at them, I grab my fork and dive in.

“Oh my God,” I moan.

“And that’s how Calli will sound when she’s begging for Alex’s.”

“I’m not sleeping with Alex,” I mutter. “Oh look,” I say, thankful to get the heat off me as a woman I recognise walks through the front door.

“Is that his mom?” Stella asks as the woman slips into the booth with Jerome after dropping a kiss on his cheek.

“Yeah. Iris is lovely.”

“Can you imagine any of our guys having a waffle date with their mum?” Emmie muses.

“Toby would,” Stella announces. “He’d do anything for this kind of sweetness.”

“I bet Alex would too,” I say, regretting it instantly when they both turn their stares on me.

“See, you know him better than you’re trying to let on.”

“I don’t,” I sulk. “I just know that Gianna is awesome and that he’d have no issues with hanging out with her.”

“She’s right,” Emmie points out.

Thankfully, I manage to steer the conversation to school, classes, and our upcoming exams.

“You ready for next year?” Stella asks me.

“Nope, not in any way,” I say, lifting my mug to my lips for another sugar hit.

“You sent in all your applications though, right?”

“You know I did. I just… I dunno. I don’t think I really want uni.”
