“And so sexy when you blush like that. What are you thinking about, Angel?”

“You’re awake,” I breathe.

His lips curl up into a smile at my obvious statement.

“I mean… how did you sleep?”

“Like I haven’t done in… forever. It was you.” His words make my pulse pick up speed, and my heart soars. But I refuse to believe them.

“Or maybe it was Alex. Being close was like being a baby.”

An amused laugh falls from his lips.

“You can think that if you want,” he mutters around a yawn. “What time is it?”

“No idea. But I think everyone else is up, and we probably need to head off soon. Pretty sure I heard Stella say we needed to be out of here by midday.”

“You think it’s that late?” he asks, his wide eyes going to the door where the morning spring sun pours in.

A low growl rumbles in his throat when I lean over him to grab my phone.

“Best morning ever,” he mutters with his face pressed right into my breasts.

Tugging the fabric down when I fail to reach what I need, he sucks my nipple into his mouth.

“Daemon.” It was meant to be a warning, but it comes out more like a needy plea. “Anyone can see us right now.”

My fingers wrap around my phone, and I roll away from him reluctantly. Just that one touch and my skin is tingling with desire.

“It’s just gone ten,” I tell him.

“Fuck.”

“You were tired.”

“It doesn’t usually make a difference. Did you get the dose right this time?” he asks, and it takes me a few seconds to grasp what he’s saying.

“What? No. I didn’t. I—“

“Shh, Angel. I’m joking. I know you didn’t. I feel… fresh. It’s… weird.”

I smile, feeling all kinds of happy for him.

A shout comes from outside, and it’s the reminder I really don’t need that we need to move.

I wish we could stay locked in this little bubble for longer. That I could keep this gentle, fun Daemon to myself, maybe even get to work on unlocking a little more of what he’s hiding. But now isn’t the time.

“We need to get moving,” I tell him reluctantly.

I attempt to slip out from his arms, but I don’t get very far because his fingers slip into my hair and I’m dragged forward until my nose almost brushes his.

There are a million things he wants to say to me, I can almost read them in his eyes. But he fights every single damn one of them.

“It’s just me,” I breathe. “You can say anything.”

“I-I—“ he stutters, making my heart clench.

“Come shower with me? I’m not ready to lose…”
