“Yeah.” Olivia gave a quick rundown of what happened at brunch. It actually felt really good to get it off her chest and have someone to talk it over with.

When she finished, Sammy looked like he was ready to fly to Chicago and introduce Richard to his fist. “What a fucking a-hole. Has he done something like this before?”

“He gave me creepy looks, but this was the first time he’s said anything. The question is, should I tell my sister?” Olivia listed the pros and cons that had been running through her head since brunch. “I don’t know. I wish it was black and white. If I were closer to her, it might be, but we don’t have that level of trust between us. There’s every chance she won’t believe me.”

A thoughtful expression crossed Sammy’s face. “I don’t know your sister, so admittedly I’m not sure how she’ll react. But if the roles were reversed, what would you want her to do? He’s marrying into the family, so you’ll have to see him at every holiday and family gathering. What if he keeps making moves after they’re married? You’ll either have to keep quiet about it until he stops being an ass—if that ever happens—or you’ll have to tell your sister what her husband is doing. Trust me, fiancé is bad, but husband is worse, especially if she finds out you knew before the wedding and didn’t say anything.”

He was right, of course. Olivia had been leaning toward telling Alina, but she needed someone else to say it for it to sink in.

“That conversation is going to suck.” She propped her chin in her hand, already dreading it.

“Here. Have another pumpkin spice cupcake.”

She cracked a smile but accepted the offering. “You know how to cheer a girl up.”

“Sure do. Now, about Richard’s address. What is it?”

“Stop. You can’t get arrested for killing him. Who will bake for me then?”

“I’ll only get arrested if I get caught.”

Olivia set her cupcake down and rounded the counter, where she looped her arms around Sammy’s neck. “I like the way you think.”

He waggled his eyebrows. “My brain is one of my most attractive qualities.”

“Absolutely.” No lie. Looks and all that were nice, and Olivia had a major soft spot for his abs, but deep down she was a sapiosexual. Intelligence was a huge turn-on. “Thank you for talking it through with me.” She planted a kiss on his lips. “So...are you done recipe tasting or can you spare a half hour?”

A slow smile spread across Sammy’s face at her suggestive tone. “Half an hour? You underestimate me.”

Olivia shrugged. “I just wanted to watch another episode ofFriends, but if you want to binge—” She squealed when he swept her up and carried her into his bedroom.

“You think you’re funny, huh?” he growled, tossing her on the bed.

“As a matter of fact, I do. I’m a great—”

Sammy’s ringtone interrupted her. He declined the call, only for his cell to ring again less than a minute later.

“Sorry, let me take this first. It’s my digital associate. She never calls, so it must be an emergency.”

“I’ll be here.” Olivia leaned back and rested her elbows on the bed, watching with mild concern as Sammy answered the phone.

“Hey, Penny...no, I haven’t checked social today.” Sammy’s face paled, and Olivia’s concern ratcheted up another notch. “You’re kidding. Yes, okay. Let me just...get a handle on the situation first. Thanks for calling. Yeah. Good night.”

He hung up and looked something up on his phone. His face paled further.

“What’s wrong?” Olivia asked, her concern morphing into full-blown anxiety.

Sammy handed her his phone without a word. She glanced at the tweet he’d pulled up, and her stomach plummeted.

Shit.
