“This is Destiny. You can have her all night if you want her. Consider her proof of how serious I am.”
“Whatever you want, handsome. It’s yours all night,” She purrs in my ear, licking the lobe.
I pat her hand and shake my head. “Just the massage, please.”
She pauses and I see Stefan nearly spit his drink out. “Anything goes with her and you still say no? That’s not like you, old friend.”
“Stefan, I appreciate the offer,” I say, deciding to go with the usual play. I smirk. “But I have plenty of women at home who take care of me and would be oh so sad if I didn’t visit.”
He looks me over slowly. “Is that the case? Truly?”
“Or that kink club where pain is just as good as an orgasm for some girls.” I wink at him. “And I can watch sex while having sex.”
Stefan considers that before kissing his girl’s collarbone. “More fun for me.”
“And I’d offer you even more.” I fish the club’s card out of my pocket. “It’s on the edge of the line, so behave and don’t draw attention.”
“I’d never sacrifice a good time to politics,” He agrees happily before showing it to his girl. “You want others to see me fuck you and claim you as mine?”
She moans and nods, licking up his throat. He grins. “I know how to pick them. My sweet little Thalia here.”
“She seems to match you well.”
“You know, Hunter, there are rumors that Chase is seeing a girl. I find it interesting.” Stefan picks at his pants.
I drum my fingers again. “Why does my brother’s dating life interest you?”
“It’s just so rare for you two. You keep a girl, for … a week, give or take? And I swear, I heard some flurry among the paparazzi about having a story taken down without warning.”
I shrug. “I wouldn’t know. Chase is old enough to take care of himself now-a-days. He can even handle his own fist fights.”
Stefan chuckles. “I’m sure.”
We drink more, bullshit, and avoid talking about anything that matters until the girls go to the bathroom. Stefan leans forward. “Do me a favor, Hunter, for old time's sake.”
“What would that be?” I say before taking a long drink.
“Remember that secrets and lies have a way of getting out. They’re pesky things. Like dogs that don’t realize where they belong.” Stefan stands. “And I don’t appreciate lies between friends. Including those by omission.”
“Now, Stefan, if a man decides to keep his secrets about his personal life, you can hardly hold that against him. Especially where women may be involved.”
“Women …” He smirks. “I see. Tonight has been fun. Perhaps we should make this a regular thing to build the … good interest between our families.”
“Of course.”
“And perhaps I can meet one of these women soon. Or the ‘woman’ I expect there is between you and your brother.” He winks.
I leave with Lief shortly after. In the car he shows me the videos. Even with the girl rubbing my shoulder, I know we’re going to have to show them to Valerie. I need to know what’s going through his head.
“He knows more than he’s saying. Stefan has always been close to the paparazzi. Perhaps the woman he’s with is a reporter or photographer. We’re going to need to be more careful with Valerie if he has an in.”
“He offered a truce,” Lief reminds me.
I scoff. “That’s the last thing that would benefit him. He wants us to be ‘friends.’ Just like when we were younger, he wants to steal my toys and all I hold dear just to prove he can.”
Lief considers that as he starts the car.
I rub my jaw. “We need to start preparing the safe house just in case.”
