“I know I can protect you. I know I will protect you. I know Hunter and Chase will too. I know that I like you and enjoy spending time with you. That is all I need to know to want this,” I say. “No. I don’t see a problem with this.”
“You’ve gotten more talkative.”
“A counselor should be, yes?” I tease.
She smiles and kisses my cheek. “Thank you.”
I arch an eyebrow.
“For being here. Talking to me. Not trying to steal me to bed. It means a lot to me. Like I’m not just someplace for you to put your dick when you want to.”
“You’re not.”
“Does that mean I have a low bar?”
“No.”
I cup her cheek and feel her lean into my hand. I rest my forehead against hers and she closes her eyes. She exhales slowly. “I hate that I like you all.”
“You do. Don’t shame yourself for it, pet,” I say softly. “Let yourself feel what you feel.”
“Sounds like you’re a real counselor, Viking.”
I smile and she brushes her thumb over my bottom lip. “I like your smile.”
“I like yours.”
“And I like talking to you. Kissing you. Touching you. Being with you,” She whispers, stroking my chest. “Anytime you’re around, I feel like I’m dying to touch you, and then I just melt and want you all over me.”
I chuckle and kiss her softly. “You’re going out with Chase tomorrow.”
“I know. And I know that if I have sex with you now, he’ll be twice as jealous, but it’s so hard to resist you when you’re right here.”
“I feel that as well.” I stroke her back again, dipping until my hand hovers just above her ass. “I’ve felt it since I saw you at that party.”
“Really?”
“When you sat next to me and talked about the weather just to spite Gunner. The fact that you didn’t push for more, or hit on me,” I list. “I wanted you then.”
“Wow.”
“And every time we’ve been together since.” My lips brush hers. “Inner dialogue or not, Ifeelthis.”
She shivers and kisses me with more heat. She pulls me tighter against her as her tongue strokes over my bottom lip and gently teases mine. I give in because I like it. She feels good against me. Like she belongs here.
When she rubs her hips against mine, I draw back. “Little viper, remember control.”
“Fuck control. I want you,” She pants.
“You didn’t have Hunter today?”
“No. I was patient,” She agrees, kissing along my neck. “And I had an essay to do.”
“Good timing is not a good reason to do this,” I argue.
“But!”
It is nearly painful, but I unwind myself from her and hold her arms behind her back to try and hold her at bay. “I will make a date with you this weekend. Save all this for Chase.”
