Asher chuckled through his tears. “You would do that for me?”
“I would do anything for you. Anything.”
“You give me this news and a baby kitten in one day?”
Harry kissed him softly. “And you gave me a reason to live, so let’s call us even.”
He wiped his cheek and held Mala close to his chest. “Do you think she would care if her dadda and papa are married?”
Harry chuckled. “I don’t think she’d care either way.”
Asher gave him a teary smile and spoke to Mala. “We better call Uncle Yunho back, yes? Tell him to organise some more paperwork.”
Harry pulled him in for a hug, careful not to squish the cat. “I love you, Asher.”
“Love you, Harry,” he murmured. It wasn’t something Asher said often, which made it all the more special to hear it now.
“I’ll make us dinner, and we should make a bed for Mala.”
“She sleeps with us,” Asher said as he went back to the recliner and opened the laptop. “She’s too little to be on her own.”
Harry sighed. He thought that might be the case. But he didn’t mind. Anything to make Asher happy.
Asher had wanted a normal life. And if that meant getting married and being dads to what Harry was certain was going to be one very spoiled cat, then Harry was okay with that.
He was more than okay with that. He woke up every day not believing this was his real life. Not believing that Asher was his, that they were alive and free from their pasts.
Normal lives. Everything they dreamed it would be. Quiet and peaceful. Kinda boring, even.
Kinda wonderful.
