“Yani, I think you mighthavea mild concussion,” I interrupted, chuckling a bit until she replied, “I guess that explains the little birdies circling my head right now.”
“What?”
“I’m just kidding, Lance,” she insisted with a giggle. “I mean, I do have a little headache, but… today was actually a lot of fun. So thank you.”
“What you thankin’ me for?”
“For insisting that I play even though Racquel is probably gonna put you on pussy punishment because of it,” Yani answered, already laughing at herself when she jokingly asked, “Should I send you a Pornhub Premium gift card to hold you over? Maybe sponsor a month of your favorite OnlyFans account?”
Shaking my head, I responded, “Nah, I’ll just go to your Instagram,” the gasp and wide eyes Yani responded with making me bust out laughing as I quickly told her, “I’m playin’, I’m playin’.”
“Mmhmm. You better be,” Yani groaned, shooting a teasing side eye my way as we pulled into her father’s driveway. But once the car was parked, I turned her way and playfully asked, “And what if I wasn’t? What you gon’ do?”
In all honesty, I was just messing with her since it was clear she was in a lighthearted mood. But things got a little more interesting when Yani bit into her bottom lip as she gave me a once-over, eventually finding my eyes to respond, “Careful what you ask for, Lance.”
With that, she casually climbed out of my car like that was really going to be the end of our conversation, her comment making it a no-brainer for me to follow her into her dad’s house which I probably would’ve done anyway since I needed to make sure her head was straight.
Now though, my attention was on Yani for different reasons as I watched her make her way into the kitchen and head straight for the refrigerator, grabbing herself a bottle of water while also mentioning, “I still don’t understand why ol’ girl got that mad when we won. I mean, it was literally just a pick-up game.”
There was no doubt in my mind that Racquel was a little salty about her team losing the way they had. But knowing that wasn’t the only reason,or even the main reason, had me shaking my head as I told her, “It wasn’t really about the game.”
After swallowing a sip of her water, Yani asked, “Hm?”
“Rocki’s attitude,” I clarified. “It wasn’t just about the game.”
“Then what was her problem?” she followed up, frowning a bit as she leaned back against the counter and waited for me to explain. But thinking about what Racquel had said in regard to me having feelings for Yani made me realize that sharing that part with her would forever change things between us since, well, that wasn’t exactly false.
Of course at first, I thought it was just the way she looked that had me seeing her differently. But now, thanks to the time we’d spent together and the conversations we’d shared since she'd been back, my attraction to Yani had grown beyond just the physical, so much so that it didn’t even seem realistic for me to try and downplay it.
So I didn’t, instead choosing to take the most direct approach when I made my way towards her while answering, “She wasmad... because she thinks I have feelings for you.” Then I took a step closer,a final step, practically pinning her against the countertop when I looked down into her eyes to add, “And she’s not wrong.”
At that, Yani’s lips parted just slightly, the sight for whatever reason feeling like an invitation for me to meet them with my own. And the second our mouths connected in a kiss, I knew I’d made the right decision in sharing my truth, Yani’s soft ass lips feeling like a tease as I pecked them once, then twice, then felt Yani’s hand wrapping around the back of my neck to pull me closer as she slipped her tongue between my lips and everything seemed to escalate in an instant.
The shared moans, our teeth softly clinking, my hands in places I’d been obsessed with since the first day I saw her after our hiatus…
It was wild how quickly shit had turned hectic in the best way as I grabbed Yani by the waist, lifting her onto the countertop to give us a better angle when I positioned myself between her legs. Then my hands moved upwards to cup her face so that I could kiss her harder as her hands drifted down towards the waistband of my sweatpants that she’d just gotten a good grip on when we heard someone say, “Hawk, Honey, would you mind…oh damn.”
Gasping in surprise, Yani pushed me away so that she could hop down from the counter as Mrs. Hayes II amusedly said, “My husband wanted me to ask if you could come and move your car so that he can pull into the garage.”
Nodding, I wiped my lips while answering, “Yeah, yeah. Of course.” Then I turned back towards Yani who wouldn’t,or maybe couldn’t, even look me in the eye when I said, “I guess I’ll umm… see you later.”
“Mmhm,” she responded with a frantic nod, running a hand against the back of her neck as she continued avoiding my gaze while she waited for me to leave. And even though it was clear we had some shit to discuss, the fact that we weren’t alone meant that probably wasn’t happening any time soon as I gave a parting nod to Mrs. Hayes II before heading back out the same way I’d come in and saw Mr. Hayes waiting in his car on the far end of the driveway.
Rolling his passenger side window down, he teasingly yelled, “Signed your new contract and just started parking that thang any ol’ where, huh?!”
Chuckling, I responded, “My bad. I wasn’t planning on being here long. Just had to make sure Yani was aight.”
“Something happen?”
His question made me pause since, truthfully, a whole fuckin’ lot had happened. But since I knew that me being on the verge of taking his daughter down in his damn kitchen before we’d gotten interrupted wasn’t the answer he was looking for, I nodded and explained, “Yeah, she hit the back of her head during a flag football game earlier. She claimed she’s good though.”
“Which means I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on her,” he responded with a knowing shake of his head before adding, “I appreciate you looking out for her though.”
“Aw yeah. Of course,” I told him, giving a nod myself as I finally slipped into my car. But the entire drive home and beyond, all I could think about was what might’ve happened had Mr. Hayes and his wife not shown up.
