Charlotte knew Tommy would like this since art was his thing. The harder sell would be Viv, but Charlotte had a plan.

“Now that your dad is going to be spending more time in Boston, he needs some things on his desk. I was there yesterday and it’s looking terribly bare.”

“You’re saying we should make him … pottery?” Viv asked.

Charlotte still couldn’t read her reaction. “I thought we could make him a few geometric style planters.” She took out her phone and tapped the screen, showing them the examples she had saved earlier. “We’ll keep them small and we’ll put succulents inside after they’re done. They’ll fit the vibe of his office and it will make him think of you guys every time he looks at them.”

“Sounds cool,” Viv replied. “I’m in.”

Such a compliant reaction from the Black’s daughter wasn’t what Charlotte had expected, but she was pleased.

“Since we’ll be out past your normal dinner time, how about we grab some pizza on the way home?” Charlotte then suggested.

“Pizza is a definite must,” Tommy responded.

Viv didn’t have the same excitement on her face. “What if I’m not in the mood for pizza?”

Charlotte walked over to the roll of paper towels, ripped one off and set it in front of Tommy. “They have a huge menu, Viv. You can order anything you want.”

Viv looked at her brother, then back at Charlotte. “I guess I’m good with that.”

This felt like such a massive victory that Charlotte wanted to celebrate. But she knew this was only the beginning and she hadn’t even come close to winning over Viv.

Still, this was a hell of a start.
