“Enjoy your dinner?” Lance asks. The look on his face shows that he already knows the answer; of course I did. But I’m not going to give it to him that easily, so I shrug and half-smile.

“Not bad, not bad.”

“Uh huh,” he chuckles as he comes around and pulls my chair out for me. I let him, even though I shouldn’t. I cannot fall for this man. “Best meal you’ve ever had. With the most handsome, successful man you’ve ever been with.”

Oh my God. His audacity knows no bounds. “Cocky much? And besides, we haven’t been together, Lance.”

He takes my arm, and again I let him. “Not yet,” he whispers as we step outside where the car is waiting.

Yup, there go the butterflies again, swooshing around in my stomach like a little hurricane. I keep my mouth shut as he opens the door for me. As I bend over to get in, I can practically feel his eyes on my backside.

And I like it.

And I hate myself for liking it.

I wasn’t lying when I told him I wouldn’t let him bend me over in his office earlier, but if he asked me again right now, I’m not sure what I’d say…

What am I going to do if he makes a move on me in the car ride back to the office?

But much to my surprise, relief, and disappointment, he doesn’t. In fact, he barely even speaks to me. We make casual chit-chat about Christmas, how pretty it is when it snows, and how wonderful real Christmas trees smell, and when the car pulls up at the front door to the office, I’m ready to get in my car and get the hell home. If I don’t, I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

“Where do you think you’re going?” he asks as I start to walk toward the employee parking lot.

“What?”

“Come upstairs,” he tells me.

“W-why?”

“Because”—he smiles—“I have something to show you.”

He doesn’t even give me a chance to reply. He just heads inside as though he knows I’m going to follow, and much to my own disappointment, I do.

Yeah. Definitely falling for him and definitely the wrong move.

He seems fascinated by me. At dinner, it was like he was hanging on my every word. I’ve never experienced that before. Sure, Andy was chatting me up, but it was obvious he was running some kind of game on me. Either something he’d learned on the internet, or something he’d practiced on many girls before me. Lance, on the other hand, seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. And that has me wanting to know more.

So I follow him back inside.

He must work out. Guys may not know this, but girls like butts too, and Lance has a great one from what I can see. Muscular, well-defined, and not even remotely disguised by the pants he’s wearing. I try not to think of taking a bite out of a nice juicy apple.

Everyone has already gone home by now, and the office is empty when we get upstairs. The lights are dimmed; the only real source of illumination is my—

“Crappy little Christmas tree,” he chuckles. “You should have known better, Faith.”

“Okay, you brought me up here to scold me again?”

“No,” he says, quickly wrapping an arm around my waist. “I brought you up here to do this.”

My legs start shaking immediately as his lips touch mine. A warmth begins between my thighs and radiates quickly out, bubbling through my body like a warm hot toddy. I’ve been kissed before—in 4th grade, so that doesn’t really count, right?

His strong hands slide down my lower back to my butt. I shudder, wanting to stop him and give myself over to him completely at the same time. I feel completely exposed as he grabs me, spreads me, kneads my flesh, and lets out a strong groan that awakens something inside me, something very womanly.

“Christ,” he growls, breaking our embrace. “I knew you had a gorgeous set of tits that even those thick sweaters can’t hide, but I wasn’t sure about your ass. Turns out it’s killer too.”

No one has ever spoken to me like that—not even an arrogant jerk with alcohol-induced confidence. Before I can reply, he grabs my skirt and pulls. The hem rises all the way up to the top of my thighs and catches on my butt. His lips curl as he growls and finds the zipper and tugs it down.

“I’ve been dying to get my hands on you,” he whispers into my ear as he slides one hand down the back of my skirt. His hands are callused and rough against the bare skin of my butt.
