I laughed and set him down on the floor where he proceeded to crawl over to his Papa. Dylan crouched down to be closer to him, ruffling our son’s hair.

“Now,” Patrick said, getting back to business. “I hope it goes without saying that I don’t think it’s a good idea for Julia or the kid to come to any of the matches. I understand wanting to be supportive and all, but…”

“That’s okay,” Julia said. “My priority is keeping Asher out of the spotlight. We’ve been careful thus far. Only our close family members know about him.”

“It’s been a real military operation,” Dylan said, only half-joking. “We’ll do whatever it takes to make sure the world doesn’t find out about him. We don’t even post pictures of him on social media.”

I chuckled. “Yeah, we probably should have mentioned that it can get a little dicey.”

Patrick clapped his hands. “Well, that’s all from me. I think I’ll stop somewhere in town for a bite to eat. Any recommendations?”

“You could always go to my sister’s restaurant,” Dylan suggested. “Tell her I sent you. She’ll hook you up for free.”

“Hm, I just might. That’s too good of a deal to pass up.”
