ICE

I’m barelyawake after another long night takin’ care of business for the club and then heading back to my place after. When I saw Collins in my bed, stripped bare, I’d have been a dumb fuck not to take advantage of her. That’s what I did, stripped down, perky ass ripe for the taking, and took my woman, barely awake by the time I slid inside. It’s why I’m stopping in the kitchen in the clubhouse before my day begins. Usually, I’m at the shop working on cars or bikes. Today is different. We’ve got a meeting, but I’ll never get dick done if I don’t ingest any caffeine. Not that coffee of this caliber will even help. No matter how strong or stale this shit is. Maybe I’ll see if I can take a nap on my lunch break. Working days and nights is catching up with me, and if something doesn’t give soon, I’ll be sleeping standing up.

“Ice, you got a minute?” Shadow asks before we walk into Church. Shit, if this weren’t being held, I’d still be asleep next to Collins, knowing how she likes to wake me up in the morning. It may seem like our relationship is based on sex, and maybe at first it was. A good girl trying to sow some wild oats. That couldn’t be further from the truth now. I can see it in her eyes, feel it exuding around her. Collins needed a fucking break. And yeah, I’m probably screwed in the head, seeing as I’ve known her damn near her whole life, but that was then, and this is now. I’m not much older than her, comin’ in at thirty-four to her twenty-nine; not that I give a shit about ages. Collins may be younger than me, but the girl is not an idiot in the least, went to college, got a degree she struggled for, still succeeded, hated her career of choice, and now she’s back in school. This time, it’s more of a pain in the dick for her than ever. After years of being out of the classroom setting, she figured that was the issue. Apparently, that wasn’t the case, and now she’s floundering with everything—life, school, work, you fuckin’ name it. The only thing she’s sure about is us.

“Sure, brother.” I backtrack to the room where we’re set to have Church, following Shadow into his office of sorts.

“You makin’ any headway in that sensitive subject at all?” Shadow sits down behind his desk. I stay standing. That situation he’s talking about is regarding his son, Crush. There’re a few people standing in the way; it’s also what I was working on last night. All of us agreed to keep Crush off this shit until we can make sure there isn’t any blowback on not only him but the club itself.

“Not much. Lots of surveillance. Vungle and the dipshit definitely are together. Think I’m gonna need bleach for my eyes after some of what I had to watch.” He nods his head, a grin appearing on Shadow’s face. Lucky asshole he is didn’t have to watch what I did for hours on end. I was fortunate enough that my dick would even work afterwards.

“Good, my boy may think he’s okay, but I see the demons in his eyes. He’s not letting it lie. I don’t blame him. Hate that he can’t get his hands dirty. Also understand why.” That’s all Shadow says; it’s really all that needs to be said.

“I get it. After I leave work today, I’ll do some more surveillance. The cameras are up in Vungle’s house; still workin’ on an in for Winslow’s place. It’s locked up tight, though, so I might need some help on that.” Really, we could use someone like Shadow to get in, work on doing the rest. Vungle’s house was easy—no alarm, no guards, zero security, and she was gone during the day. Winslow is a whole other story; you can tell he’s got something to hide with the amount of people he has surrounding him at all times.

“We’ll talk to Rage. It’s been a minute since I’ve got my hands dirty. Wouldn’t hurt to be in on this.” I’m pretty sure all the brothers can agree on this one.

“Good. Ready to go? If you’re late, it’s one thing; if I am, I’ll be the one eating shit.” I take a sip of my coffee, wincing as I do. There’s no way I’ll be finishing this shit, even if I did add more sugar and cream. I’ll just have to wait till I get to the shop.

“Yep, throw that shit in the trash. Fuckin’ ridiculous. The dumbasses can barely clean the place. I’m not sure why they think makin’ coffee is a good idea.” Shadow is talking about the recruits. We’ve only got a few of them, and at the rate things are going, one of them might make it, but the other two are dumb fucks.

“I will once Church is over, and I can make some at the shop. The pot here is fermented. Right now, I’ll take caffeine any way I can get it.” We walk out of his office. The other brothers are making their way inside, each of them dropping their phones off outside the door. Shadow and I bring up the rear doing the same thing. As much as I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen next, sleep is what I’m really after.
