“Promise I’ll be on my best behavior. I won’t even try to kiss you unless you want me to.”

His house is well maintained on the outside and the inside has nice furniture and high-end appliances. Though they could have come with the house since he did say it is the house that he grew up in.

I plant my butt on a stool and he fills me in a little about his folks. His father was also a police officer, and his mom was a homemaker until he graduated high school. His brother works at a federal prison. He also has an older sister and a nephew.

Definitely a polar opposite of Viking. I think he mentioned once that his sister is also part of a motorcycle club. He doesn’t like talking about his past or his family.

Ugh. I don’t know why he keeps creeping into my thoughts.

My phone starts buzzing again from inside my purse, but I fight the compulsion I feel to check it until I excuse myself to the bathroom halfway into his preparing what he refers to as his mom’s famous cheeseburger pie recipe.

I’ll take his word for it because it kinda looks like someone puked in his rice as he starts layering the ingredients to bake them.

I’m expecting it to be another text from Viking but it’s Wylla Mae.

Wylla:Hey, so Viking came over to shoot the shit with East but he’s interrogating me about you. What did I miss?

Andi:Don’t tell him anything. He’s an ass. I’m at Justice’s for dinner. He’s super nice.

Wylla:You don’t like nice guys. You’ve always been into bad boys.

Andi:And look where that always landed me. No. I’m done with guys like that. It’s time to grow up and get real. Anyway, I’m in the bathroom and should probably get out before he comes to check and see if I’ve fallen in.

Wylla: Call me tomorrow.

Okay, the food was way better than it looks and at the end of the night I find myself hating for the night to end but I’m scheduled on for the next four days after being off for three and need to get my ass to bed at a decent hour.

Justice drives me home and when he walks me to my door he comes in for a kiss and I don’t why, but I turn my head at the last second. His lips plant against my cheek. Surprised at the rejection his face morphs into a mixture of disappointed and maybe annoyed.

“I had a really nice time tonight. I hope we can do it again soon.”

“I’ll call you,” he promises, but I wonder if I ruined any chance of him doing so.

I tug on his hand to stop him from leaving and when he pauses, I say to hell with it and lay one on him.

His lips are firm and unmoving at first but after a second, he warms up and prods at the seam of mine with his tongue. The kiss itself is sloppy and lackluster for better words. Yet there’s potential. The first time I slept with Viking it wasn’t good because I was so nervous and I’m hoping that my next kiss with Justice will prove to be magical.

I shake my head. I’m fooling myself. Justice doesn’t make me feel the way Viking does.

I go upstairs and get ready for bed. After going through the motions of washing my face and brushing my teeth I get in my bed and scroll through my phone pausing on my text messages from Viking. My mind flashes to him in my bed last night. How hot he looked touching himself. And why the hell was he grilling my bestie?

I hit call before I change my mind.

“Hello,” a female voice answers with a giggle. “Viking can’t come to the phone right now he’s too busy eating my pussy.”

Bile clogs my throat as tears burn in my eyes. I hang up.

I’m an idiot.
