“Andrea.” I lean into her as a tear slides down her cheek. “Don’t cry.” I wipe her stray tear away.

She’s still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid my eyes on.

Fuck how my body aches to take her right here. To claim her. To remind her that we belong together.

That no one will ever love her like me.

That no man will ever fuck her like me.

She’s mine.

She’ll always be mine.

She can run from me but I’m through allowing her to hide and lie to herself.

“What are you doing here?”

“You know why I’m here. Because you’re mine.”

She shakes her head. “Please. Don’t say anything else.”

“I’ve been patient. Given you space to work through whatever it is you need to do but I can’t do this anymore.”

“What?”

“We need to talk.”

“Hazel said she gave you my letter.”

“Left me a fucking letter, babe. Like some sort of Dear John bullshit. I know I fucked up with you.”

“I can’t do this right now. Are the kids even here or was this some elaborate scheme to lure me here?”

“I wouldn’t call it elaborate, but the kids are with Alexa. But you and me, we’re here now and I’m done giving you space. Done trying to make sense of it. Done living my life without you. I want you back, princess.”

“There’s nothing left to talk about. I had to get out. I couldn’t do it anymore. If I hadn’t left, I’d still be playing your and Justice’s game.”

“Our game?”

“He told me all about you. That you were fucking his wife.”

“Don’t know why he fed you some half-ass story and you believed it but ain’t never fucked a man’s wife. Not my style. And as far as I know that asshole has never been married.”

“You were quick to fuck me while dangling me in front of him like a carrot.“'

“You’re right. I did. I used you to fuck with him and it wasn’t right of me. Still, none of that changes how I feel about you.”

“And how did you feel about me? I wouldn’t know because you never told me.”

“I love you, Andrea.”

She shakes her head. “I’m not doing this. You don’t love me. I’m just the only girl to tell you no. If I’m not here to babysit I’m leaving.”

Andi starts toward the door. I’m not letting her walk away a second time.

“I know about your pregnancy test.”

“What?” She stops walking and her body does a jerk. She spins around to face me with guilt etched all over her face and this sadness in her eyes I can’t bear to see. There’s so much hurt inside her, but that doesn’t stop me from continuing.

“You took a pregnancy test. Go on deny it,” I dare her to fucking try and lie to me.

“That’s why you’re here? I can’t believe Wylla told you. I’m not pregnant. You can clearly see that I’m not pregnant.” She waves a hand down her front. “Happy now. You’re off the hook.”

Off the hook? Is that what she thinks? “She told me because even though she’s your best friend she knows that I had a right to know. Would you have told me? Were you ever going to tell me?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“You wouldn’t have told me. Think I’m not good enough.”

“What kind of future did you see for us? Huh?”

“You’re not the girl I thought you were. Hung up on superficial shit I see. Guess I had it right the first time we fucked.”

She jerks as if I just slapped her. “I was so happy.” Her tears race down her cheeks. “I couldn’t wait to tell you when you came back. I wasn’t sure how to tell you that I was pregnant.”

“You just said pregnant.”

“I was falling in love with you. I wanted…”

“You wanted what?” I shout and she flinches.
