that’ll lead us to the VIP area.
I signal for Donovan to go around the front of the room. It’s separated from the other two VIP areas, but the front’s open for the fight. I’d hate for one of the fuckers to get spooked and take off, drawing unnecessary attention.
“Knock, knock, cocksuckers,” I open the door and stop in my tracks. Wyatt is engulfed in a conversation with a man I’ve never seen before, while Theo is sprawled out on the couch next to him, getting his dick sucked.
I chuckle at the irony as all three sets of eyes narrow in on me.
“This room’s taken,” the unknown man snarls.
Wyatt looks at me with dollar signs in his eyes, and I wink. The upside of few people knowing I exist is these fuckers don’t know who I am. The downside is, with the announcement that my hand’s up for marriage, I’m not sure who knows about me.
But none of these people do. Theo pushes the girl on her knees away from him with enough force that she slides back. The girl wipes at her face before looking up to assess the situation, and I catch sight of the tear stains down her cheeks.
She’s being sold.
No wonder Tanner called me. He probably caught wind of the shit they were getting up to and wants me to fix it for him, never having even to lift a finger of his own.
Red colors my vision, but I fight to keep control. If it weren’t for my dad, these fuckers would be burning in hell by now.
“You,” Theo points at me. “I want to see what that mouth does.” He snaps his fingers, “on the floor.”
My head cocks to the side, my control slipping as my hand inches toward the gun resting in the waistline of my leather pants. A familiar figure catches my attention from my peripheral.
Snapping my head in the fight's direction, I see Liam Brenner pummeling Renton. Blood covers his muscular body as he relentlessly drives his fist into his opponent’s face.
The last person I expected to see in an underground fight club is Liam. And I certainly didn’t expect the sheer murder in his eyes. Two large men jump into the ring and pull him from Renton.
The beaten man lays limp and unmoving as people rush in. Liam fights against the men’s hold on him, trying to get away and finish his kill. Watching him on the verge of taking a life, lost in the rage I know so well, calls to me.
There has always been something familiar in Liam, but I never recognized it as the darkness that also threatens me.
“Hey, bitch. I’m fucking talking to you,” Theo calls me out of my
reverie.
“Out,” I say to the girl crying in a corner, curled in a ball, attempting to look as small as possible. “Ask for Tanner Vasquez, and he will get you to safety.”
She doesn’t move an inch as all three men jump to their feet. Theo quickly tucks his cock away as the unknown man and Wyatt stalk toward me.
“How about a little privacy, boys?” I say, signaling Donovan to close the curtains and shield us from the outside. With the distraction of Renton’s injury, no one will pay attention to the yelling in here.
Donovan is holding Theo at gunpoint, trying to coax the girl to get the fuck out, but she won’t leave.
“The fuck did you say?” Wyatt says, snapping his hand out to grab my neck. I pull my gun and knife before he can connect.
The tip of my blade bites into his chin, my gun pressed against the stranger’s forehead.
“Tell her to go,” I demand.
“Fuck you,” Wyatt spits.
They have groomed the bitch to only listen to her masters. She will not save herself unless one of these three men tells her to. I press the tip deeper, and Wyatt grunts as blood drips onto my hand.
“Tell her,” I repeat, clicking the safety off my gun.
Donovan strikes Theo on the temple with his gun, dropping him like the sack of shit he is. I’m almost disappointed the fuckers didn’t put up more of a fight. Then again, I am more curious to find out what our agent is doing here.
When Theo’s body goes slack on the ground, his brother gulps. “Go, whore,” he says to the girl.
I tsk, more than ready to get this over with. The girl gets up and bolts out of the room. I’ll have to trust Tanner will have someone intercept her on her way out. Donovan steps over Theo and whistles as he walks over, pressing his gun against Wyatt’s head and relieving me of one of the two men.
Following suit, I take the heel of my dagger and knock the stranger out. There will be time to play with him later. With two of the three men out cold, Donovan could handle this while I step away.
“You’re going to bail on me, aren’t you?” Donovan says like he’s reading my thoughts. He must’ve seen Liam when he was going around to the front of the room.
“Have fun, little brother,” I tease, then walk out of the room.
