“You know you have to drive tonight,” Bastian informs me. I’m three drinks down and working on my fourth while he has been nursing the same drink for the last hour.

“Worry about yourself,”

I mumble.

Bastian’s reminder sneaks under my skin, the alcohol making it harder to brush off his comment. I scan the room one last time. I’m not going to get any information tonight, and if I want to get my dick wet, I need to start the hunt before the alcohol kicks in.

When I glance towards the front door, I see a pretty little thing walking in alone. Wavy black hair stops just at her shoulders, a tight green mini dress that clings to her body perfectly accentuates her curves, and tattoos decorate her glittery skin.

Confident stance and head held high, she stands in front of the crowd, looking like she’s trying to find someone. I watch her for a few minutes, and then it seems she gives up trying to find whoever she’s looking for. She makes her way across the room to a less-crowded area of the club before she falls effortlessly into the rhythm and starts dancing, dropping her body and swaying with the music, completely lost in the music.

Fucking hell.

I don’t give a fuck if she’s looking for or waiting on her friend or boyfriend—I’m going to shoot my shot. I pushed away from the bar without a word to Bastian.

“Someone found his target.” I hear Bastian say, but I don’t stop to respond.

The closer I get to my “target,” the more I notice about her. A scar stands out above her eyebrow, slicing down to just under her left eye. She straightens and turns towards me as if she can sense my eyes on her.

“Hello, beautiful,” I say, dropping my voice and drawling the words.

Bright green eyes shoot up to meet mine. Her outfit and eyes fit perfectly inside this club, and the green lights are dull in comparison. She cocks an eyebrow at me in a challenge.

Something dark lurks in her eyes, something… predatory. She’s locking me in, watching every move I make. Caught off guard, I stay where I am, leaving some distance between us. This woman almost intimidates me, but I’m not one to shy away, especially when I’m already committed to making her my conquest. The longer she holds me in her gaze, the more I realize she’s almost familiar. I can’t place it, but it feels like I’ve seen this stranger before, though I know damn well I would remember her if I had.

“Well, hello there,” she finally responds.
