But then, can I blame her? I’m sure I don’t seem like the same guy to her either. A surprise pregnancy can do that to you. It’s almost like an extra person in the room, sucking out all the air and making it hard to breathe at times.
Harper stumbles and grabs my arm at the same time my reflexes kick in, and I wrap my arm around her to keep her upright.
“Sorry. I tripped over my own feet.”
She peers down, and I try to get a glimpse of her face. Ever since I went inside, she’s been different. What on earth happened while I was gone?
With her hand still holding on to me, she glances at me through her dark eyelashes. Her eyes are the most beautiful blue I’ve ever seen, and I could lose myself in them all day long.
“Ryan?”
I gulp at the serious expression on her face. “Mmm?”
