I looked to Sax and Nicco, figuring they’d know if that meant anything. Sax shook his head, but Nicco looked like he was trying to pull a memory, so I waited to see if he was able to. He tilted his head, blinking back at us.

“It sounds familiar, but nothing is coming to mind. I think I either visited there, or maybe I lived there for a while. I’m not really sure, though. It’s vague.”

I reached over and squeezed his hand. “Okay, well, I guess we sit tight until we hear back from the lawyer.” My shoulders fell a little. I’d wanted to have some brilliant idea that saved the day, to show Attie we hadn’t been sitting on our asses while he was gone.

“Or,” Pixel chimed in, drawing our attention. “We could set off our own attack and take out two birds at once.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, leaning closer.

“Dayton is currently at dinner with your mother, Jacqueline.”

I stared, stunned, assuming I’d heard her wrong. I’d known they were working together, but this solidified it, making it real. I hadn’t expected them to be so open with it. Out in public sent a whole other message.

“Wow, okay.” I swallowed, rubbing my hands on my legs. “Which attack are you referring to?” I asked, looking up at her.

“The one where we make them both look like fools.” She grinned wide, and not for the first time, I was glad she was on our side. I looked at the guys, wanting their confirmation. I didn’t want Atticus to leave us alone, and we screwed up our first thing without him.

“It’s brilliant, Cous,” Nicco said, beaming at her.

Sax grinned wide, grunting his approval. Monroe had a calculated look on his face as he thought through all the details. When he nodded, along with Wells, I felt good about this. We’d strike back, letting Dayton, and my mother, know that we weren’t scared.

We were Mascros, and we’d stand tall, fighting back every step of the way.

“Do it,” I said, giving her the go-ahead. Pixel's smile widened, and she made a big show of lifting her finger in the air as she dramatically brought it down to hit a button on her phone.

“And done! That always feels so good to do. Time to unleash the birds.” She giggled, and I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t deny it was brilliant.

“Well, then I guess we just wait until Atticus returns. Thanks for joining us. Um, Nicco, I think Wells and I could use your assistance.”

I gave him a look, and he laughed but nodded. “Fine. But man, what a way to ruin a good time.”

We hobbled out of the room and followed Nicco down the hall. He chuckled as he opened a door for us to enter. I realized then that Monroe and Sax had followed.

“Nope, no way. I’m not doing this in front of a crowd,” Wells huffed, folding his arms over his torso.

“What? Afraid I might catch feelings for you like this one?” Sax asked, pointing at Nicco. “Have no fear, Grumpy. I’m solely a Spitfire man.”

“Grumpy, I’m not grumpy; you’re grumpy,” Wells muttered, almost pouting. Nicco laughed, eyeing us.

“If you want it out, you gotta pay the toll.” Chuckling, I walked over and kissed him before bending over. He brightened at my kiss, his eyes dancing. “It’s such a crime to waste this,” he mused, rubbing my ass almost lovingly.

“Sorry, I didn’t think it was appropriate to ask the police officers to come back later because I’d been wearing a butt plug for hours,” I deadpanned.

The guys snorted, and I could feel Nicco shaking with laughter. “Oh, Beautiful, how I wish you would’ve. Fine. But I get to play another time then. I’m owed.”

“Sure.” I pushed my pants down, not caring everyone was watching. Nicco eased the plug out, and I felt relief at the intrusion being gone. Though, it hadn’t been as horrible as I’d imagined, and now that it was out, I almost missed the pressure. Sitting down would be easier, at least. I stood up, fixing my clothes as I looked between Wells and Nicco. He stood with his arms crossed still, a look of annoyance on his face.

“Alright, Wellsy. You going to pay—”

Wells walked over, grabbed Nicco around the neck, and yanked him, kissing him aggressively. After a few seconds, he let go and dropped his pants. Monroe leaned into me, fanning himself.

“Shit, that was hot.” I giggled, agreeing.

“Even I was a little turned on,” Sax murmured, making me giggle more. These men were meant for me, and I couldn’t imagine life without them.

Once Wells was butt plug free, he fixed his pants, a look of relief on his face. Sax walked over and looked at the two backdoor diamonds. “You’re an asshole, Nicco,” he said, chuckling.

I didn’t understand what he meant until I looked closer and noticed the one Wells had been wearing was bigger than mine, and not the one he’d shown us at the store. Wells seemed to realize it as well and turned, slapping Nicco.

“You’re so wearing it next time,” Wells declared, trying to hit Nicco again, who dodged his arm, taking off out the door.

Monroe shook his head, smiling. He wrapped his arm around me, and we walked out together with Sax in tow. As we neared our set of rooms, Pixel appeared, skidding to a halt.

“It’s happening. Come on, I have it on the screen.” She put her hands together, perfectly impersonating an evil dictator, chuckling as she threw her head back in a maniacal laugh. I looked at the guys, and we all grinned, following her. It was time to watch the great downfall of Dayton Mascro begin. You couldn’t mess with us without consequences. It was time he learned that lesson.
