Sax’s face tilted up in surprise. “That doesn’t sound right. What station?”
I told him, not understanding his concern. “What’s the issue? We knew they’d probably call me to do this.”
“Yes, but he shouldn’t have been discovered yet. So either we have a mole, or someone tipped them off. Did they say where he was found?”
I nodded, stating the location. “Isn’t that where we’d planned?”
Sax rubbed his jaw before something lit up in his eyes, and he walked back into the room, stopping Atticus from whatever he was saying. I followed at a slower pace, trying to piece together what Sax had figured out.
“Stop. I know what we need to do,” he said, grinning wide. “It’s time to throw a party.”
Blinking, I didn’t understand what that had to do with anything, but Atticus and even Nicco had smiles covering their faces as I looked between them.
“Anyone care to explain?” I asked, leaning against the door. “I have to go and identify Brian’s body, so the quick version would be appreciated.”
“What do I do best, Bellezza?” Atticus asked, turning his attention to me. My face reddened as I stuttered, not knowing how to respond to that. He rolled his eyes, smiling as he walked toward me, taking my hands.
“Secrets, Bellezza, secrets.”
I still didn’t get what that meant, but I could tell they were excited about it. “Okay, sure.”
Atticus chuckled, the sound doing things to me. “It’s time to cash in a few. We’ll hit Dayton on multiple fronts, so he can’t possibly manage them all. Then, we go for what we’re really after when he's occupied.”
