Softness etched his skin, and I got lost for a second in his eyes. Nicco had the most dynamic blue eyes. They always captured me in their intensity, and if I wasn't careful, I would become lost in them. I could only nod, at a loss for words. Nicco smiled, knowing I'd fallen into his trap, and kissed me gently before walking out and pulling Imogen with him. She was buried in her phone, probably to Jude, so she walked along with him effortlessly.
Finishing up my note for the session, I sent a quick text off to Wells about our session.
ME: I can't make the session tonight. Something's come up. I'll see you Tuesday.
I hadn't expected him to respond so quickly. I was putting my phone away when I felt the phone buzz with a response. Looking at the screen, a scowl crossed my face at his terse reply. Tossing it back into my bag, I decided to deal with him later.
Surly: You know the rules, kitten. You miss, you still pay. I should've figured you couldn't hack it for long. Miss one more, and you might as well not even bother coming at all.
New Horizons was dark as I walked through. Everyone else had left for the evening already. My session running over had hindered anyone from saying goodbye, and I guess how Nicco had gotten past Doris too. Stepping into the lobby, I found Nicco and Imogen, along with another burly dude standing there in a deep conversation.
"Did we decide what we're doing?" I ignored the other man, figuring they'd introduce him to me if it was important. Nicco turned, a smile on his face.
"How do you feel about sushi?" Based on Imogen's bounce, she was very excited about this plan.
"I could do sushi. Do we know if Jude likes it, though?"
At my question, Imogen frowned and then pulled out her phone, sending off a quick text. A second later, she popped her head up, a massive smile on her face.
"He's never had it, but is wanting to try."
"Awesome, so how are we getting to the restaurant? Or are we picking it up?"
They both looked at each other, then at the other man, neither with an answer as they all kept hoping it would magically come to them. Pulling out my phone, I sent a text to see if Nat was available.
ME:Hey, girl. Are you free?
Nat:For you? Always!
ME: You're the best. Can you stop by my apartment and pick up my foster kid, Jude? And then bring him to Sushi Roll?
Nat:Since when do you have a foster kid?
ME: Um, two days ago? It's a long story. Drinks soon, and I can update you?
Nat:Oh, that sounds like fun. I'm in.
Nat:I'm two mins out from your place.
ME: Okay, 6ft-ish teenager, brown hair, answers to Jude
Nat: That could be 1/2 of Chicago!
ME: I have a car coming to pick you up. Silver SUV. Nat is her name. She's a friend. She'll bring you to the restaurant. Two minutes out.
Jude:Okay, thank you. Are, like, jeans and that shirt we got yesterday okay to wear?
ME: That would be perfect to wear. Bet you're glad I made you get it now, huh?
Jude:haha… but yeah.
ME: Okay, he will be down in a second. I'll send the address to the restaurant.
Nat:I can't believe you just ignored me!
ME:You'll be fine. Ask him for a password. I want to see if he panics.
Nat:That's mean, but I can get behind it.
