May felt reluctant, as if she were handing over everything she’d worked toward, again. But then Jack continued.
“The murder is a separate issue, and it’s even more urgent. So while I am organizing the raids, I need you to bring in Lewis Brooks, as I agree he is likely to be the next target based on the killer’s pattern. Let’s get him into police custody where the killer can’t target him. We need to bring him in using a way that won’t arouse suspicion or cause any risk to the women. And once he’s inside, you need to focus on finding the killer.”
“That sounds perfect, Jack,” May said, relieved that she still had control over the core part of her case.
“I’ll be coordinating with the FBI and the other police departments in Tamarack County, and getting other people involved in the trafficking raid. I’m calling them now, and I want to be updated on any developments as soon as you have them.”
“Will do,” May said.
And May, I trust your instincts,” Jack said. “I know you know what you’re doing, and I know you can handle this. But you also need to be careful. The killer is likely to be active right now, and you and Owen might be in danger.”
