“He’s just never watched the show,” she tells my dad, and he laughs, the sound making my chest feel funny.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard my dad laugh, but I’m not even a little surprised she got that out of him. And as I sit there with her on my lap, talking to my dad, I hope he finds what I have since losing my soccer career. Something better, bigger, more fulfilling than any amount of money could ever buy.
