“Why the fuck are you even here?” Levin snapped back. “Last I heard, you were Dominic’s lapdog and fucking Ivanov. Shouldn’t you be licking Ivanov’s wounds right now? Judging by his face, he has quite a few.”
Stella started to protest, but Dominic spoke up, “Levin’s right. Stella, go. Now is a great time to listen in.”
“Dominic, he’ll be pissed right now. He’ll probably hurt me—”
“Then brace yourself,” Dominic said in an icy voice. “Fallon is there. He’ll make sure you’re OK. Then report back to me.”
Her bottom lip wobbled for a moment. “You said you’d protect me, but you’re sending me into danger. He’ll hurt me if Fallon can’t stop him—”
Dominic lifted me easily and stood, sliding me back onto the chair. He went to his dresser and rummaged around in it. He produced a handgun and stalked toward her. She flinched, her eyes wide with fear. He gripped her face tight with one hand and held the gun to her head with the other.
“I’ll fucking hurt you. He’ll just fuck you harder than he usually does and bruise your pussy,” his slightly accented voice held a promise of danger as he pressed the gun to her forehead. “Now get the fuck out of here and do as you’re told.”
She visibly swallowed as he released her, her eyes darting to me quickly before she rushed from the room without another word.
“We’ll be lucky if she doesn’t betray us,” Vincent said as Dominic put the gun back into his drawer.
“Then she’ll die. It’s pretty fucking simple,” Dominic said. He let out a deep breath and turned to Levin. “Status?”
Levin glanced at me before he focused back on Dominic. “I’m in fucking love. What can I say?”
My chest tightened at his words, and I stared down at my lap, wishing I could just vanish.
“Pussy that good?” Dominic pressed.
Levin grunted but didn’t elaborate.
“Baby B, you want to come with me to get some lunch? You didn’t get to eat much,” Vincent said.
I shot him a grateful look and got up. He held his hand out to me. I slid mine in his and let him lead me to the door.
“She’s the best I’ve had in a long time,” Levin said softly, his voice shaking.
Vincent squeezed my hand when I paused at the door. My broken heart shattered completely in my chest.
Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Be the bigger person. Wish him well and move on.
Slowly, I turned to face Levin and choked out words that burned like acid on my tongue. “I’m so happy for you, Boo Bear.”
He winced but said nothing back.
“Get her something to eat and take her back to class,” Dominic said.
Vincent tugged me through the open door, my misery still alive and well in my chest.
Levin was the master at heartbreak, but I was probably a close second. We did this to each other.
