REMI
Ilook toward the direction of the voice but see nothing through the darkness.
How can he see me?
Strong arms grab me, throwing me over a broad shoulder. I’m overwhelmed by a different kind of fear—pure terror.
Gage really is a monster. Not that he didn’t warn me.
I want to kick, scream, and shout, but as he’s said, he’s two-hundred-fifty pounds, over twice my weight, and a whole foot taller. And he has mountains of muscles, enough to crush a man.
I am his to do with as he pleases.
We re-enter my room and I’m thrust onto the bed. Glaring eyes look down at me.
“W-who is he?”
“My business.”
“But he’s a person! You can’t just—”
“I can do whatever I want.”
The monster’s face is cold and angry, his muscles so tense, they look like they’re going to pop off his body.
"How did you know I was out?” I ask, unable to mask my fear.
"There are cameras in the hall designed to see in the dark. They trigger with movement."
“Are you going to punish me?”
“Not in the way you would like.”
“I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like any punishment.”
“Oh, I’m pretty sure you would.”
“Is that what you’re doing to that guy down the hall?” I gesture to the door. “Punishing? Or is he just another sex toy to you?”
His lips break into a smile, but they immediately turn to a line again when he realizes he’d let his cold exterior thaw.
“I promise you, I am not having sex with the man in that room.”
“Why is he there?”
“That’s my business.”
“Are we ever going to leave here? Or am I your prisoner?”
“Yes to both. I told you we would eventually go to my people, and I mislike repeating myself. And you were my prisoner the moment I pulled you up onto that bus.”
“I can’t be kept in the dark forever.”
“Good thing this room has electricity.”
“You know what I mean! And how are the lights and water kept running down here, anyway? And what if they stop?”
“My group works throughout the city to keep specific lines up in case we need supplies. These lines are connected to havens, places we stay when we need to do said work. This is one of them.”
