He laughs, cocking his gun. “No, you stupid asshole. I had on a bullet proof vest. The blood was from my shoulder. But don’t worry, I got it all fixed up at the hospital, where they asked me what happened. I had no choice but to tell them who I was and my plan to infiltrate your club. They weren’t happy when I told them all the shit you did.”
“What the fuck?” I ask.
“Riley Giddens put your hands behind your back. You are wanted for murder, drug smuggling, soliciting a murder, and attempted murder,” he says, pulling out his handcuffs.
This dirty fucking prick. Everything he had me do for him, he is now holding against me, plus me trying to kill him. Fuck. I look around quickly to see how I can get out of this and I turn, running for the back door. I can’t go to prison; I’ll be killed by his command I’m sure of it.
Before I hit the back door, my body jerks and I fall to the ground. “Fuck!”
“Stop resisting and I won’t shock you again,” he says, holding the taser up.
That shit fucking hurts and before I can even move, he slaps the cuffs on me. Panic takes over when he drags me to my feet. Gillian could be in danger and there’s no way to reach out to anyone. The club is more than likely in danger too and they are all going home today. Fuck. I really messed shit up this time. I just hope I get a phone call when we get to the station. I need to warn them because once I’m placed in the general population, I’ll be fighting for my life.
I promised to make Gillian happy and maybe this is how it’s meant to be. She’ll get that wedding and kids after all with someone else.
My heart bleeds in my chest as he pushes me into the car. It’s fucking over.
Chapter 16
Gillian

Finn looks at me and smiles. “You’ll be out of here soon.”
I’ve been watching everyone pack up and leave. I’m sure it looks like I’m sad about it, but I’m really not. When there was no light at the end of the very dark tunnel, I was scared, angry, and sad. Now, I see the light so I’m good.
“I know Finn, thanks,” I say, smiling.
“Being new isn’t easy. I know you've been around, but now you’re in the mix. It’s a lot like being a prospect. You take a lot
of shit to prove your worth, but if you stick it out it’s so fucking worth it,” he says.
“I appreciate that. It’s not easy, but I know for Riley it’ll be worth it,” I reply.
He laughs and leans back in his chair, crossing his arms. “He’s a pain in the ass, but one of the best guys I know.”
“Who is?” Porter asks, sitting down.
“Riley.”
Porter nods, lighting a cigarette. “Yeah, he definitely is. You’re the only woman to ever get under his skin. I’ve been around, well probably longer than both of you have been alive, and I’ve never seen him let a chick get close. You’re good for him, Gillian.”
The compliment feels good. In an effort to get closer to them like I promised I try to keep the conversation going. “He loves this club more than anything. He made that clear many times.”
“We’re family, sweetheart. You love your family unconditionally,” Porter explains.
Family. I have none left, so I guess Riley is truly my family. By extension the club will be my family too. The idea of that has me grinning with happiness.
Porter’s phone rings and he steps away to answer it. I look at Finn and tilt my head. “Does everyone have a best friend within the club? Obviously, Zane and Kace are and Brooks and Enzo, seems Porter is closer to Riley, so is that true?” I ask.
He shrugs, resting his very muscular tattooed arms on the table. “Yeah, I guess it is. They’ve all been together for a long time. Some grew up together.”
“Who’s your best friend?” I ask.
He laughs and looks around. “I guess I still need one,” he says.
“I do too,” I say, laughing.
