“Fuck,” I say, slamming my fist on the table.
“We need to figure out where that property is,” Kace says.
“We need to get Dom,” Riley adds.
Harper glances at me and I lightly shake my h
ead. I don’t want her mentioning anything about Dom. I brought it up to the club today and we are going tomorrow. That asshole is going to start spilling secrets one way or another.
“Now what?” Ivy asks. We all look at her and she lights a cigarette. “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m only allowed to speak when spoken to now?”
“Fucking hell, Ivy. What is your problem today? You’re back to being the crazy chick I had to drag out the door,” Kace hisses.
“There’s a huge difference now,” she says, leaning over the table. “I’m not scared of you anymore.”
Kace stands up so fast, the chair smacks to the ground.
“Enough!” I yell. Everyone looks at me and I stand up, resting my hands on the table, leaning on them. “We’re getting off track. Whatever the fuck is going on with you two, settle that shit another time. Right now, we need to focus on what the hell we are going to do.”
“Sorry,” Ivy whispers.
“We need to talk to the club. See what they want to do,” Riley says.
I scrub my face and stand straight. “Yeah we do. I think we should all stay at the club for now. It’s safer if we’re all in one place.”
“Ivy and I will go pack some stuff,” Harper says, yanking Ivy to her feet.
Once they are out of sight, Riley and I look at Kace. “Dude, you should just go there already,” Riley says, laughing.
“Fuck off,” he says, giving him the finger as he walks into the kitchen.
We laugh when Kace throws the top of the beer toward the garbage and misses. It pisses him off, which just makes it funnier. I grab a beer for me and Riley and lean against the counter. I tip it back and look at them both. “I wanna ask you guys something before I bring it up to Brooks and Enzo,” I say.
“What’s up?” Riley asks. While Kace just nods his head.
“Harper was saying how much she misses working and feeling like she has a purpose. You guys saw what she did at Club Kingsley. What’s your thoughts on letting her take charge of Souls Two?”
Riley finishes off his beer, tossing it into the trash. “I think it’s a great idea.”
“Me too,” Kace agrees.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It crushed me when she said she needed to feel like she had a purpose. She has a purpose with me, but I understand she needs something for herself. She’s told me how much she loved running Club Kingsley, and how she built it from the ground up. That’s exactly what we need with Souls Two. It’s just been sitting for months, it’s time to get it up and running.
“You guys ready?” Harper asks, holding a bag. Ivy is very unhappy standing next to her, looking at the ground.
“Yeah, let’s go,” I say.
Finn drives the girls and we follow. When we get to Souls, it’s still pretty packed. I have Finn put the bags in the back and we all sit down. Porter and Alex, drag over chairs to join us.
“It’s been awhile since we were all here together,” Riley says, with a grin.
“Fuck yeah, it’s nice to have Harper back in the mix,” Alex says, raising his beer.
Her smile could light up the darkest room. I can’t remember a time when she looked so happy and relaxed. It makes my pulse pick up when I realize that I’m at least part of the reason. I need this shit to be over so we can move on. I have plans, huge plans.
“You guys just like that I keep Z in place,” she jokes.
“Holy shit, that’s the truth. I don’t know what you did the last week or so, but I think I owe you a shot or two,” Porter says, waving Finn over.
