It was now a shade of green I’d never seen before in my life.

That could not be good.

“Yeah, that’s right! Add more healthy crap. If you break that thing, do not expect me to buy another one.”

More spinach.

More kale.

Christ, I hated that stuff the most.

It belonged on lawns, not in human stomachs.

Finally, the screaming machine stopped.

Lexi clunked something around, then I saw her try to pour the contents into a large glass.

But.

It wouldn’t budge.

She had it completely upside down.

And nothing was moving.

That, however, did not dissuade Lexi.

Oh, no.

Not her.

Nope.

She pulled out a ladle from the stupid, cutesy container she’d bought.

Then—she ladled.

One scoop.

Two scoops.

And more.

Way, way, way too many scoops.

Even the ladle refused to dump properly. Lexi had to bang it on the rim of the glass each time.

Christ.

Once the poor glass was full of the green sludge, she marched over to where I sat.

“Here,” she said slamming down the drink on the coffee table. Some of the contents kind of bubbled up and sluggishly slid down the outside of the glass. “Enjoy!”

Not to be outdone, I picked up the drink—against my better judgment—and drank.

Or, rather—chewed.

“Great,” I said, then I dropped the glass back down on the coffee table with a loud bang.
