Her one and only movie attempt went bust.

It had been a horrible slasher pic.

Like, really bad.

As in, I was embarrassed for her while I watched it.

Hopefully this gig would jumpstart her into something good again.

“Hello, everyone!” Lola waved to the audience. “It’s fantastic to be back with you after our short hiatus. We missed you,” she said, then blew a kiss to the cameras.

“We certainly did, Lola,” Marco said, smiling wide for the cameras. “But, while we were off on vacation—some Angels’ team members were quite busy.”

Lola touched her index finger to her lips. “Shh, we’ll never tell.”

The audience laughed.

My teammates didn’t.

The camera panned back to Marco.

“Well, we might not tattle, Lola,” he said, then swung his arm out to the side, “but, the cameras always do.”

Yikes.

My stomach started doing flips.

“Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the women’s team received a new recruit.”

A clip of when I’d first arrived at the apartments began to play.

It showed me getting off my bike.

Well, technically Dad’s bike.

“Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns and Roses blared through the speakers.

After that, the women’s team members raced out of their apartments to greet me.

Of course, Gigi had gotten to me first. The excitement on our faces, and how we jumped up and down even as we hugged each other like crazy—made me laugh.

Gosh, I loved her.

Beau and Trey were on next, sitting by the pool. That was when I’d first spotted him.

“Trey, get your eyes off her. I’m not kidding, she’s off-limits.”

“Who is she?” Trey asked, completely ignoring his friend and teammate.

Beau sighed, but answered, “Lexi Hunter.”

“And she plays hockey? I wonder if she’s any relation to Wes Hunter?”

“She’s his daughter.”

“You’re—bleeping me? That is Wes’ daughter?”

Beau nodded, then stared over at his friend. “Trey, swear to me, you’ll lay off?”
