Oh, shit.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I lied through my teeth.
Damn.
Had she really caught me reading?
My mind raced back to that weekend we’d spent in the hotel.
There were a few times I remembered opening the reading app on my phone.
I’d tired her out.
Completely.
Then she’d fallen asleep in my arms.
Only once I was positive she was out, did I dare open my phone.
Shit.
She must’ve caught me.
“It’s okay, I think it’s adorable,” she said in a soft voice. “It made me like you even more than I already did.”
My heart sped up at her words.
God, she really was cute right now.
I wanted to kiss that grin right off her face, then lay her down on the couch, and—
And nothing.
I’d made a promise to Lexi.
And to my mom.
And to fucking Wes Hunter.
I promised to keep my hands off—and my dick out—of Lexi Hunter.
I cleared my throat and set my hand on top of hers.
“What chapter are you on? And how the hell did you get a signed copy on the day of release? I ordered a paperback copy, but it won’t come for a day or two.”
Her smile widened. “Chapter ten. And off her website. I preordered a few just in case.”
“I’m only on chapter eight, but I’ll skip ahead if you want to read it together?” I suggested to her.
A shocked look crossed her face. “What? No way. We’ll start with chapter eight. You’ll miss way too much by skipping ahead.”
She reached beside her and pulled out the book she’d been reading.
I picked up the bookmarks, and other stuff then tossed it all onto the coffee table.
My arm went around her. As I pulled her to my side, the scent of coconut filled my senses.
Christ.
